Use the elevator

"I'd like to see another area. What else is on this level?" you inquired.

In it's monotone voice, MPAD-24 rattled off the details. "This is the third level which is the Commons level. It contains the dining hall, main viewing windows, quarters for passengers, and some additional quarters for the crew."

You could see the crew quarters another time. "Which level is engineering?" you asked.

The robot answered, "The fifth level is the Engineering level which provides access to the ship's primary systems for power, environmental control, communication and navigation. Would you like to go there next?"

"Yes, but can I try activating the elevator this time?" you insisted.

"Affirmative," replied the robot.

Getting into the elevator was simple. All you needed to do was approach it, and the door slid open. However, trying to figure out the gesture system for determining the level proved to be a bit more complicated. Holding up five fingers did nothing. Tapping your finger five times did nothing. Finally, you tried waving your hand, and the elevator began to move. However, you ended up going all the way to the last floor instead.

"This is the eighth level which is a storage level," stated MPAD-24. As the door opened, it looked like a large circular warehouse floor filled with a variety of alien devices and crates of varying sizes organized into radial rows. The outer edges had a mix of square, hexagonal and circular compartments some with small doors that were apparently used for the storage of smaller items."

"Let me try this again." You waved your hand a shorter distance this time, and the elevator began to move. When the door opened, it looked somewhat familiar.

"This is the fourth level which is the Science level. It contains the medical bay and research labs." You almost were getting the hang of the gesture system, but you had ended up one level off. Before waving your hand again, you noticed a familiar-looking Cuni cleaning an area further down the hall.
