Field Worker !

Lawrence woke Debbi early in the morning after taking a few photos of her sleeping peacefully naked on top of the bed. They would always come in useful. After a light breakfast, she dressed in just her robe and a pair of rubber boots with which to work in the fields. "Don't bother with make up, you look spectacular in any guise but we're going for hard realism here" said Lawrence. "I'm not going to be posing you. Sunil's set up some scenarios with the locals and you just go and work with them for a bit while I wander around taking candid shots" he further explained. "Just have fun with it, we won't keep you slogging under a hot sun for too long !" he laughed. "Alright, I'll do my best" said Debbi.

The first location was with a gang of men scything down maize with machetes. One of them demonstrated the technique to Debbi. "Be careful with the machete darling, we don't need any accidents, just look enthusiastic" advised Lawrence. Debbi slipped off her robe, eliciting murmurs from the men, even though Sunil had told them what to expect. It was still before eight but already punishingly hot. Debbi swung the machete which thudded ineffectually against the thick stalk of the maize. One of the men took her hand and guided the motion and she began to get the hang of it. She was lost in her task as Lawrence drifted around taking photos as she bent, stretched, swung, rested, making sure her fully clothed fellow workers were often in shot.

Debbi worked for half an hour before Lawrence felt he had enough material from this scenario. One final segment was needed here. The men transported the maize in bundles carried on their heads and photos were taken of Debbi engaged in this activity before a final smiling group photo of the naked Debbi among the men ! "Take a short break and then we're off to join the women harvesting rice" Lawrence told her.

The women had also been briefed by Sunil as to what to expect from Debbi. They were perhaps understandably more aloof than the men had been but nevertheless demonstrated to Debbi the backbreaking technique amongst the knee deep water. The women had their saris hitched up while Debbi was thankful for her rubber boots. The women treated Debbi as more of a hindrance than a help and she herself felt that she was harvesting a meagre amount compared to them. But none of this was apparent from the photos Lawrence was getting of her working, with some particularly rewarding bending shots. This time the group photo featured a smiling naked Debbi and stony faced fully clothed Indian women ! "We've got two more scenarios to shoot Deb but it's getting too hot now. You've been superb, we have some great stuff" Lawrence congratulated her. " Thank you, I'm glad" she replied. "We'll take a break back at the house and shoot the rest after lunch" announced Sunil.
