What's next?

More danger! Miss Wormwood is under dire threat.

"This will not do," the Headmistress repeats, nude and unsteady on her feet, holding your warm hand in her cool one. "We must find Miss Wormwood. Take up your wand, young Aberdean."

You and she take up your wands. The Headmistress makes a gesture and mutters several words. "This way," she says.

"Shouldn't we dress?" you ask.

"This way," Pernilla Porcinilla repeats.

So, nude it is.

Following the tug of her wand, the Headmistress leads you deeper into the Infirmary, across a little courtyard to the bath house reserved for Miss Wormwood and the patients of the Infirmary.

The sounds of some sort of struggle are coming from inside.

"Oh dear," the Headmistress says.

Through the arched entry to the bath house, you see Miss Wormwood's pale, wiry limbs entangled with the sinuous body of a great snake. The snake has hold of Miss Wormwood round the middle, and she struggles to resist its grip, barely drawing breaths and unable to raise her voice in an incantation. The snake's scales are pierced and oozing here and there from the bites of the vipers growing from Miss Wormwood's head.

You sway on your feet. You were not expecting to see a re-enactment of Laocoön and the serpent in the flesh, and you're certainly hoping not to take the part of one of his sons.

"Wand ready, Aberdean," the Headmistress says. "We must assist."

Your own member twitches and starts to fill. Despite the dire circumstances, the nearness of the nude Headmistress and Nurse calls up the gallant reflex. You brush the thought away and raise your wand, following the Headmistress' lead.


Roll +BRAVERY (-2) (+0 Bravery, -1 Consequence, -1 HANGER-ON) to oppose the serpent attacking Miss Wormwood.

Roll +BRAVERY(-2) to GET OUT OF DANGER.
