Amanda Wallace, apparently just a normal girl

It has been almost a month since the wave of bizarre transformations had swept the world and although nothing would ever be quite the same again a semblance of normality was beginning to reassert itself. For Highschool senior Amanda, this means a return to her newly reopened school.

She has never been the biggest fan of academic pursuits but she has to admit it feels pretty good to be back among her friends even if some of them had changed a lot since the last time she has seen them.

As if responding to her thoughts her friend Erica zips down the hall toward her, her iridescent wings a blur.

"Hey Manda!" the pixie girl squeaks hovering at Amanda's eye level "You still on for tonight?"

"Sure, I haven't forgotten" She nods "I'm looking forward to it. I'm just glad your parents finally stopped freaking out about your change enough to let you have a sleepover."

"Ha! That makes two of us" Erica giggles, sounding like tinkling bells "I was beginning to think I'd be grounded forever...."

The bell rings interrupting their conversation.

"Oh shoot" Erica scowls "I better run... Um, I mean fly. Don't want to be late again. I'll catch up with you later, okay?"

Amanda agrees and watches her friend zoom away leaving a faint trail of golden dust in her wake. Erica seems to be coping well with her change. She's the same fun-loving girl Amanda knew before. Still, Amanda knows it must be hard for her friend, suddenly shrinking to the size of a Barbie doll. It makes her very relieved she was not one of the changed that day even if flying does look like a tonne of fun...

What she doesn't know as she hurries off to class is the change did not pass her by. While she may appear to be a normal teenage girl on the outside inside she has been profoundly changed. It is only a matter of time before the world, and Amanda herself, learn exactly what she has become.
