A choice to make

You made your way back to your room where Lily was waiting for you. She woke up as you answered and sat up, looking at your face she raised an eyebrow. You must have been showing some of your indecision. "Something tells me my body isn't the first thing on your mind anymore. What's up?"

"We're going to war. Not a limited war, a full-on war with members of the Queendom of Avalon." You told her, as both your **** and a Viking raider that your nation now had an alliance with you figured you were allowed to tell her. If you were wrong on that point nobody was likely to find out.

"A full-on war limited to individuals. Normally that would be funny but Princess Victoria has a grudge against me for taking her twin." You looked at Lily in surprise, you hadn't said anything about the princesses, she noticed "We've known about the build up for a while, we thought they would stick to the really small fish but if they're going after the Directorate that means things have escalated. There was talk about either starting to raid them to cut down on their numbers or just trying to stay out of it." You moved to sit down on the bed beside her and she shuffled to make room."The consensus was starting to lean towards that second option not working. All I know is it's going to be an interesting time, especially if some of the reports we've gotten about one of the IAA backed contenders is true." You waited for her to go on and she obliged. "Princess Sibylla, she's a bit more ambitious than her sisters. She wants to start her own empire, the IAA is backing her only to hedge their bets, so she doesn't have a large ****, only around 5000 last time I looked with barely enough ships to carry them. Anyway, I don't think you came in here expecting a lesson on politics?"

It was your turn to answer. "Well, we've made a defensive pact with the Vikings." You could see that you managed to surprise her this time, she obviously hadn't heard about that. "So I've been offered the chance to sell your time to the government. I've also been given permission to let you come into battle with me." You told her. "Do you think you could make a difference if you got to go home early?"

"Honestly, no idea. I'm not a Raid Leader or a big commander. I'm just someone with a lot of experience who knows how to teach. My opinion is highly respected but it can be disregarded just as easily. I won't be going home to help with training with something this big going on so Gwen won't get to see me either way. It's really up to you what you want to do. I'm willing to watch your back and keep sucking your front if you decide on that. I'm a good fighter and I'll teach you a thing or two about that if you'll let me as well. It's up to you."
