Chloe closes the door behind herself, then moves closer to you. For a panicked moment you think she's going to try **** you just like your sisters did earlier, but she stops short, "First problem is going to be getting you out of the house without anyone getting suspicious. Any ideas?"

"I was thinking about climbing out the window," You admit.

Her expression perks up a little, "Not a bad idea. Toss your bag out the window, we can pick it up on the way to my car, I'll bullshit my way past our parents downstairs."

Not waiting for your reply, she grabs your back, zips it closed, then opens your window. Tossing it into the yard below, she takes your hand and heads for your bedroom door.

Dragging you along in her wake, you're busy enough trying to keep up that you don't even think to protest. At the bottom of the stairs, you can see your mother and Aunt Peg sitting on the couch talking quietly between themselves. Chloe gets their attention, "I'm taking Jesse for a little ride, with everyone acting so weird about all of this, she's having a rough time with this change. I figured a little girl talk might help.

Your mom looks at the two of you, "Ok," Her voice sounds tired, "Take good care of her."

Not waiting for any further reply, Chloe tightens her grip on your hand and heads for the front door.

It only takes you a couple of seconds to retrieve your duffel, then you're half way to Chloe's car when she asks, "What now? You planning to stay with a friend or something? Or you want to shack up with me for a few days while you process everything that happened?" She gives your hand a sympathetic squeeze, "My apartment is kind of small, and its probably going to be the first place our family comes looking for you, but you're welcome to stay with me if you don't have anywhere else to go."
