Miss: Go to the Infirmary's baths. Asteria has a PREGNANCY SCARE, return to Leontes.

Well after midnight, upon the dark of the moon, you decide it's too risky to disturb Dorothy the Giantess, who sleeps opposite the common baths. Asteria warns you away from Leontes' baths. "Too often there's a prefect or two, trolling the halls," she says. "Think they're helping the Warden."

You laugh. "Well, then, there's the bath behind the Infirmary," you say. "Miss Wormwood hardly sleeps, and I'm sure I could talk her into it."

Miss Wormwood is on duty, as usual, and is agreeable to opening the baths for you if you tell her why.

"The Weirding Woods?" she says. "Well, you're no fresh youngster, Morgan," she tells you, "And if this was on the Warden's direction," she says, looking a question at Asteria Hornbeam, "there seems no objection. You do look a bit disheveled, I would have to say. Take plain robes for going back to Leontes."

One of the green serpents that grows from Miss Wormwood's head in place of hair reaches forward toward the Assistant Warden, extending its forked tongue. Some of its fellows follow the curious quester, their tongues taking in Asteria's scent.

"Morgan, if you would wait in the outer office a moment?" Miss Wormwood asks. She takes out her wand.

You step outside, Miss Wormwood closes the door, and you feel an audible absence. Miss Wormwood has raised a privacy screen.

It seems like an endless wait, in the cool dimness of the small hours in the Infirmary's waiting room, but it's perhaps only twenty minutes.

The door opens and Miss Wormwood looks out.

"Please be quick with your baths and get back to your House," Miss Wormwood says.

Asteria Hornbeam is in a decidedly cooler mood as you go to the baths. As you scrub and soak, you catch something in your fading aura vision, a little pulsing glow at the center of Asteria's womb.

"Asteria, what's wrong?" you ask.

"I may have been wrong about Galahad and his fellow knights," she says. "Miss Wormwood says I am most likely pregnant."

"Oh dear," you say. "What does that mean?"

"I don't know," she says. "I don't know." She sighs. "At least I got something from your old friend Pip."

"Old enemy, more like," you say. "Not any more, at least."

The two of you walk silently back to House Leontes, wearing your plain gray borrowed robes, in the darkest hour of the early morning. Asteria Hornbeam nods and leaves you to head back to your bed in the Warden's chambers.

You have to wake the Warden in order to get back to your bed. Sensing your mood, she folds you in her arms and takes you to hers. You drift off to sleep with your head upon her soft breasts, with her stroking the post-bath tangles out of your long hair.
