Cleaning up

Once John was done managing all his new abilities, as well as understanding them, he was in mixed feelings. While yes, his new powers were great, once again, but they had a major flaw. Contract only worked willingly. All of his deals until now, he had done in a way where he tricked his opponent to agreeing to them, Layklé not being counted as she thought she would get out of it. So that trick was off the table now.

"Do you know what just happened?" He asked her. After all, if she didn't...

"Something changed. Explain!" The way-too-attractive monster demanded. Shoot. He had feared this. She didn't know about the new contract, so she was still trying to kill him, and therefore, herself.

"Well, you must have noticed that I am not a regular human. You see I have these abilities that..." He stumbled in his explanation, not being sure how to reveal it, without giving away any weaknesses, so he was just standing there gesturing for a few seconds.

"What does this" she repeated some of his less elegant motions "mean. And what is that piece of paper floating next to you?" She was looking at his screen. Wait. What? Could she see it?

John touched his inventory screen and moved it to the right side of his body, her eyes followed. Shit. She could see this, and therefore, could see all his powers. And his limits, most of all. His very limited health, his extremely limited mana, his stats... everything. His inventory screen was basically his life. And she could see it all. This felt more naked than being actually unclothed in front of her.

Then an idea hit him. He tapped his screen and selected the skill description of contract. If she could see his screen, then at least he could use that to explain the situation. Carefully, he stepped forward and showed it to her, reading it in detail as well.

The first thing he noticed was that it was already level 2. Did he miss the level up notification? Or would it come late, like the achievements did? Also, it being half way full, together with the note, it was good to know that one more contract would suffice to level it up again.

Then, while Layklés eyes went wide, realizing that her empty promises from before now must be kept after all while falling on her knees in despair, John just clicked on the screen while turning away. The next page would be only for his eyes, because he had an idea what would be on there.

As expected, the contracts and benefits he gained from them. Both were not super powerfull, but then again, he just gained this skill and both said they would be improved over time.

"Layklé, I am going to leave now. You know that we are bound now, so you better stick around." She didn't reply, but John couldn't care less about her mental breakdown. As long as her power was now inside of him, he was good to go.
