Heartbroken in one case, guilty in the other.

Jess looked at him, her chin trembling and her eyes close to tears.

"Lyndsey came to our house this morning. She...she...told me a story I have trouble believing...she told me...told me...that you...and her...you made love...while...while you were a wolf..." her voice broke off and she bit her fist to stop the tears. Lyndsey looked stricken with guilt and avered her eyes when Hunter turned his gaze on her.

"That's right," Hunter said quietly.

"Are...are...are...you going to leave me?" Jess asked miserably as tears started to flow down her cheeks.

"No Jess I'm not," he answered. "But something has happened to me. Something has changed."

"Because she's younger and prettier...and...and...and...fucks...you better than me?" Jess sobbed, sitting slumped and heartbroken in her chair. Hunter reached out a hand to her but she pulled away, hugging her arms around her chest in self defence. "You don't have to make up lies...if you want her...you don't have to make a fool of me..."

Hunter glared again at Lyndsey, who looked away from him, her face marked with shame and self recrimination, then turned back to Jess, who was sobbing quietly into her hands.

"I need to show you something Jess," Hunter said, getting up and taking off his suit jacket.
