Chapter 17 by Drakavius Drakavius

Who will we follow? Stay with Lydia? Follow the cops or switch to Mark or Mary?

Jeff, at The Emergency Call Centre

Nothing like a uniform and a badge to get you access to secure places without question. Or so it normally was. Even with a uniform ripped in places.

Jeff had more or less been able to casually stroll into the Emergency Call Centre complex for the city with hardly any question.

Unfortunately getting in had turned out to be the easy part. His badge and uniform didn't give him full access in the building, and there were far too many Operators and staff to even attempt just trying to take one by one without a plan to compromise them morally.

But even that aside, he hadn't exactly been idle. He'd been leaving pheromones in his wake as he patrolled the building always acting like he had, or knew where he was going. Occasionally he'd infuse a bench, counter, door knob, or even some of the plants in the halls with the Idol's corrupting influence. Sadly those objects were unlikely to provide enough exposure to passers by to actually accomplish anything here.

Perhaps he was too focused on his task, without warning he bumped into a short black woman who practically bounced off his rigid frame falling to the floor.

Her purse had fallen, as had some papers, and her phone.

This was a chance!

"I'm so sorry. I don't know where my head was," Jeff commented knowing exactly where he wanted his head to be. He had to move fast, hoping his pheromones would help keep his quarry momentarily stunned.

Jeff scrambled to gather up her things, he grabbed her phone with one hand infusing it, a steel water bottle with another, rushing it into the purse as it morphed.

Then picking the purse up by the strap he infused it putting out a hand to help the woman up.

"Oh no worries. I've been told repeatedly to not read the paper when coming in. Looks like you're the one having the rough day." She remarked nodding at some of the slight tears in Jeff's uniform. Half wishing the uniform was more tattered than improperly fitted.

"It's really been life altering." Jeff quipped putting on a smile. "I hope your day just gets better from here. The names Jeff by the way."

"Candice." The woman replied with an embarrassed smile. Her petite slender black body fit well in her business suit. She brushed off and straightened the beige skirt slinging her purse back over her shoulder. She couldn't explain why but she felt an unusual urge to just jump this cop. He was hot and everything, but there seemed to be some greater magnetism which simultaneously lured her and set off alarm bells in her head.

She found herself lost in his eyes as they both met eyes, the thoughts that were going through her head having derailed into a massive train wreck.

"Well I'm sure you should go. You look like you have an important job to do." Jeff said starting to walk away hoping for one more thing...

"JEFF! I.. uhh... I don't normally this, but can I have your number? Maybe call you to go for a drink?" Candice didn't know what the fuck she was doing. This wasn't like her at all, why was she asking for his number?

Ok, why shouldn't she ask for his number. Candice thoughts conflicted as Jeff turned back to her with an alluring smile.

"Anything for you." He replied quickly pulling out his notepad and scrawling on it quickly. He ripped the sheet off and handed it to her turning away. "I look forward to hearing from you." He shouted back with a wave.

Candice glance down at her phone, realizing the time she started to rush back to her desk, honestly, IT support work orders weren't going to process themselves.

What's next?
