Chapter 56 by TheDespaxas TheDespaxas

There are two kinds of adventurers, prepared ones and dead ones.

He won't get caught unprepared again, he would have to be ready to farm.

"Hi mom, I'm home! I have a lot of homework, I'll be in my room until dinner," he said, only stopping to kiss his mom on the way up. She wasn't naked this time, but all she had on was an apron. It seemed like she was doing some advanced cooking and didn't want flour or sauce on her tits.

"Of course John, but remove your uniform so it doesn't get too ruffled," she told him. He did so in front of her, keeping only his boxers on, the cotton fabric of his regular underwear was straining to its limits under the pressure of his hard dick. "Those look like they're too tight, you should remove them too. It's bad for your health and having something too tight down there can make it shrink in the long run."

John smiled and handed her the briefs rather than putting them on the chair with the rest. Her remark made him think of Frank's predicament and his complains about the too small device locked on his dick. And this thought reminded him of Vanessa's condition. He couldn't wait to see this situation evolve further.

"Thanks mom, now that it's finally fully grown I wouldn't want it to shrink back. I'll take your example and remain nude at home when we don't have guests," he replied. From the smile on his mom's face he guessed it was the right answer.

"How did it go with Anna?" she asked before he could leave.

"It was not a real date date but we went shopping at the mall and had a lot of fun," he explained.

"I'm sure you'll have a real one soon enough, just remember to be careful not to get her pregnant," she reminded him.

John picked up his bag and went to the garage before going up. He picked up a few things, as many as he could fit in his inventory, and got to his room.

Once the door locked behind him (his mom would probably think it was for him to masturbate), he opened his storage chest and inventory, unloading everything on the floor. He turned his computer on and realized in shock that it was the first time he did so this week. With his life becoming a video-game he had totally forgotten about regular gaming. He took the time to message a few online friends telling them his gaming pc was out of order, a few of them had thought he was dead after seeing him offline for more than 3 days.

John looked closely at the new profession he had and noticed it was a passive thing and not a skill. He would just get better at manually forging stuff when this rank would go up. Thankfully he had a few ideas to make it go up quickly.

John sat at his desk with all the documentation Ms Brooks gave him and launched a few videos about forging on his computer. Some of the leaflets didn't trigger pop-ups but had useful info so he just read them. Some opened windows asking him if he wanted to learn about a particular type of knowledge related to crafting and that he would gain some recipes. He clicked ok on all of them.

The book about the forge would increase his rank by 2 for his apprenticeship, and already it had gone up by one while reading the other stuff and watching the videos. He thought about it and got an idea, before accepting it he looked online for an ebook version of this. Sadly having it on a thumb drive wouldn't offer him the pop-up. But he could both use the book to rank up and have the content available on his phone and computer if Ms Brooks wanted him to study a specific part of it.

He spent 23$ repairing his armor from the spear to the belly incident. He looked at it and it seemed for now that he could only improve it either with heavier armor (which would slow him down since he wouldn't be able to wear it freely because of his strength score) or with exotic crafting materials. The problem was that he had to know the property of the material to use it and had no idea how to unlock it.

There was a small table in a corner of his room that he freed by removing everything on it. He picked a few things on the ground and used Craft.

Craft: Crafting table?
This crafting station allows to get better results when crafting, more materials when scrapping and use less of them when fabricating.
Cost: 1 table, 1 hammer, 1 saw, 1 pair of pliers, 1 wrench, 1 screwdriver, 10 nails, 10 screws, 10 units of light metal, 10 units of heavy metal, 100$

He accepted, hoping his dad wouldn't mind the missing tools. He never spent much time in the garage and would probably think them lost.

The table changed a little and now had drawers on it and a vise. He also got a pop up.

Skill level up, Craft lvl4: 5-15mp
Craft's price will vary in relation to the complexity of the item and the materials. Using raw materials will require more mana, reassembling or repairing from the correct parts will take less.
The complexity of items available will increase with the number of crafting techniques known, their level and your general technical knowledge.

Damn good, that meant that his level of smith apprentice would make crafting easier. And he might even directly craft weapons if his forge rank was high enough.

The next part was tricky. John had noticed something when fighting the slimes. They had damaged his clothes, the wooden stick and Moira's metallic armor, but the rubber soles of his shoes had remained intact.

He took out the two pint of slime, both the full one and the one he used and which was now full with water. He knew it wouldn't become real slime again until he fed it some fluids, but the water he put in it had dissolved some of the remaining slime and was colored green. It wouldn't move or do anything but testing the tip of an old sock on it revealed that this liquid would still attack fabric and destroy it.

John took one scoop of the blue one and put it in this one, shaking it vigorously to mix the liquids. He had the idea immediately when seeing the party supplies at Felicity's.

He carefully used the device he bought over a plastic bucket and ended with ten small water balloons filled with a liquid that ate fabric. It was exactly the right size to use with his slingshot.

Discovered new recipe: liquid bombs.
You can now craft balls filled with liquid that will explode on impact and can be thrown or fired with a slingshot or sling.
Cost: 1 liter of liquid, 1 unit of rubber for a stack of 10 bombs.

"Yes!" exclaimed John. The dream of all perverts and a very useful weapon. He could use it in the real world as a prank item, but also in barriers as a way to destroy weapons and armor some monsters had. The fact that it was non lethal was an added bonus if the situation became confused. He scrapped an old, busted car tire that had been gathering dust in the garage for years and got 17 units of rubber from it.

Next was transportation, he couldn't rely on public transportation and it could happen that because of destroyed or damaged clothes he would have to go home in his combat gear.

John had a mountain bike his dad offered him when he turned 15 and which he never used. The attempts of having him get out of the house and away from a computer had failed so far. John had considered using it but his years of gaming had wired his mind for short cuts and optimization. He sat the bike on the floor (it was taking 7 inventory slots by itself when he got up to his room from the garage) and put on the side an electric motor from the previous garage door, an old car battery, two bags and a few units of various crafting materials.

He crossed his fingers and cast Craft on the pile of stuff. He didn't try to improve the bike but used it as material, hoping that it would work. Somehow it took him more than the normal mana price, trice actually. He really hoped it was a good sign.

He looked at the result and was impressed.

Silver Steed: special vehicle.
This bike is equipped with a motor, charged by pedaling or with mana, that allows for high speed.
It takes 6 inventory slots.
It possesses 6 inventory slots (cannot be accessed while in inventory).
250/250 durability.

Not as impressive as Moira's motorcycle but it would do the job. It looked like a normal bike with a small motor and saddle bags. The frame was painted silver and the tires looked reinforced with some metal, probably to ride on rough terrain.

John sent an email to an online friend who was some kind of hacker to ask for help with something and after putting on his combat gear decided to test one last thing.

He was curious to see what kind of barrier would happen when at home. It would help a lot if he could farm directly from here.

He had decided to just enter and get out without exploring too much. He just wanted to check.

Instant Dungeon activated!
