Chapter 6 by CxSeth CxSeth

How much of a risk is Johanna ready to take?

Johanna undoes her coat.

After a few moments of gut-wrenching deliberation, Johanna let out an irritated sigh and sat up, unbuttoning her coat. “Don’t make me regret this, pirate,” She growled at him.

Bone’s grin grew wider, and Johanna couldn’t help but feel like she’d caved in too easily. “Oh, I promise, Captain,” He said, charm dripping from his voice, “I won’t do anything you don’t ask me to.” For a murdering, thieving, ****, lying, black-hearted pirate, Bone was irritatingly likable. You don’t get to command a ship without some measure of charisma, but this was different. As he lay down next to her, she threw her coat-turned-blanket over the two of them and leaned back against the soft ground, before immediately rolling to face away from him. Just because she was sleeping next to the man didn’t mean she had to acknowledge he was there, any more than was necessary.

Johanna felt Bone fold his arms behind his head, his arm and elbow above her head, and she resisted the sudden urge to scoot up and use his meaty arm as a pillow. That was probably exactly what he wanted her to do, and Johanna expected it was a short trip from there to waking up with his arms wrapped around her, under claims that she’d “Non-verbally asked him to do so,” Or some such nonsense. She let out a final irritated huff before closing her eyes, listening to the sound of the torrential rain, and trying to get some sleep. Her last thoughts before drifting off were cursing the pirate for being right: she was very warm and comfortable sleeping next to him.

What does morning bring? Or does something happen during the night?
