Straight at Them

You don’t want to have to wait for them to get alongside you, the stink of the females has gotten to you.

With a roar you jump from the tree line and make straight for the horses. The first of the two rears up in fright, presenting its stomach to you. You take advantage of the moment, punching your fist easily into its soft guts. Grabbing onto something inside you pull downwards, disemboweling the creature in a few seconds.

The second horse, blind with fear, breaks free of its ropes and bolts away into the darkness. You ignore it, turning towards the person on the top of the cart, you see him reaching for something that is across his lap. He doesn’t get a chance however as you snatch him up and toss him into the nearest tree. He connects with the crunch of snapping bones and slaps down into the cold mud, motionless.

You can hear screaming from inside now and you pull away the covers, light spills out and you can see three females. One of them is much too old and is clutching a tiny one to her chest. You ignore both of them, instead you reach a blood slicked fist for the third. The smell is strongest from her.

She tries to crawl away, her mouth hanging open in a silent scream as you snatch her up and bolt off into the darkness.

You run harder than you ever have before, the stench of blood filling your brain. The small part of you that could be called “Smart” goes away completely as you become pure animal instinct.

Bounding over fallen trees and rocks slides you suddenly feel something hitting you in the side. You look down at see the female.
