There's something wrong with the book

He looked again into the spellbook. There were plenty of other interesting summons inside, but he only quickly scanned them one after another. Most of the deamons were just too bizarre or powerful, and even with all today's experience he felt a little afraid of summoning them. As he reached the end of the book, he closed it to concentrate a while. There was something hidden here, he thought. The book looked too much used up to be a real 'white crow' as they said it was. Someone must have been using it a lot. He opened it again and slowly read the first page. Then the second... And the third... Something just wasn't quite right here.

The suddenly he found it. In the upper-right corner of each page there were a few letters that didn't make any sense to him. No - after all they made sense - they looked like an encrypted message. He quickly wrote them down on a peace of paper that he found lying nearby and found that the message really consisted of word of some kind. He wasn't able to decode it on the spot, but he sensed much power in it and, after returning the spellbook where it belonged, he got back to his study on the other side of the campus. There he quickly scanned the bookshelf and found, what he was looking for - 'Codes for Mages', an 800pages long book, that he got to copy during his Caligraphy Course. It was an old tradition of the University, that every new apprentice mage made a two copies of one of old library books, one for himself and the other to replece the one in the library, and Caligraphy Course was only a phony name for that activity. Nonetheless, today Aaralon was happy that he choose this one, and not one of the Small Spell Dictionary or Quick Alchemy Volume like his friends. He took the book and started reading it in hope of finding something useful...

It took him quite a long time, but finally he found a proper decryption algorithm. He translated the messega and read it. Then he read it again... And again. He just couldn't believe he was that lucky. He finally found instructions for the spell he was trying to cast for years.
