Driving Home and Feeling Okay

Kevin felt as though a weight had been lifted from his shoulders almost immediately. He suddenly saw the situation as much better -- really, what had the previous God ever done for humanity? There was no hard evidence, and that's why people would say "the Lord works in mysterious ways." Well, they wouldn't have to do that anymore, since Jason Henderson's ways didn't seem all that mysterious. Heck, he wasn't even a J.H. fan, and he'd still had about 25 years taken off his age, plus gotten this muscular body of his dreams.

And the girls -- surely the world was improved with more hot girls in it, and if that meant his daughters had to be part of the improvement, then that's just the way it had to be.

He made it out of the parking lot easily, with only a few other vehicles having left as soon as he did. Almost everyone must have gone to try to get backstage to see Jason in person, he figured.

He merged onto the Interstate to head back across the city to go home. After a couple minutes, he realized the girls were being remarkably quiet.

Glancing in the rear view mirror, he saw their faces illuminated by devices they were looking down at.

"Wait, are those iPhones?" he realized. Annabelle and Kim, he thought, only had cheap flip phones, and he knew Emma didn't have anything.

"They must have been another reward," said Annabelle without looking up.

"Oh, hey, someone posted a Vine of someone changing," Emma said.

"Cool," said Kim, glancing over to the iPhone in Emma's hand. "I wonder if anyone got us changing. I'd kinda like to see."

"Looks like no one can decide on a hashtag," Annabelle said. "#HenderGod, #JasonGod, #JasonIsGod..."

"So it's on social media," Kevin mused, feeling a bit proud of himself for interpreting what the girls were saying.

"Um, yeah," said Annabelle, in an "of course it is" tone.

Kevin happened to notice a news truck from one of the local TV stations driving the opposite way on the highway -- and then another from a different station, followed closely by a third. In fact, traffic going the other direction seemed to be a little heavier than he might expect for this late. It was just past 11:00.

He thought about turning on the radio to see what the news would be saying right now, but was worried about trying to work the unfamiliar controls of this SUV -- and figured if he turned the radio on, the girls would demand he find some Jason Henderson music, which he'd heard enough of for one night.

As he was passing through the downtown area, about halfway home but still about 20 minutes away, someone's phone rang.
