Make a run for it

Lucy decided she had enough of Kate's schemes for one day and opted to dash through the rain. She approached the side door. As tempting as it is to wait and see if the storm died down, the longer Lucy remained, the more likely it was for Kate to show up. Lucy pushed open the door and took a deep breath to prepare herself.

Lucy lept out the door and sprinted towards her car. Heavy rain soaked her clothing, causing it to stick to her body. By the time she reached her car, the rain had reached every part of her body.

Lucy quickly reached into her pocket to pull out her keys, but there were no keys... or pockets...

"Damnit! My keys are in my pants!"

She made the walk back to the side door, not in any hurry considering the rain couldn't do any more to her. Lucy pulled on the door handle, but it refused to budge.

"Oh, come on!" She shook the handle and looked inside but couldn't see Kate and Cassy anywhere.

The side door was relatively hidden from view, so Lucy was not too concerned with her exposure. The front door, however, was quite visible from anyone on the main road. Going through the front door was not a scenario Lucy had in mind, not that she had another choice.

"Sigh, let's get this over with."

Lucy scanned the area from around the corner - no one around. In this rain, that was not surprising. Not wasting any time, she ran around the corner and into the front door.

Lucy stood inside the store, only in a t-shirt and apron, sopping wet.

"That could have gone better," Lucy told herself as she walked to the back. "At least there's an extra apron in the back."

Lucy kicked off her wet shoes and socks. Then she stripped her wet clothes off and hung them to dry. Carefully rounding the corner, she noticed the apron was missing as well.

Oh, great. Now Lucy was stuck in the diner, wet and naked. This could not have been any worse.
