Chapter 9

What do you do?
Have a look at your skill choice
Now is as good a time as any to check the skill choice waiting for you. There's no telling when the fighting will reach this part of town, so best to make the most out of this relative peace while you can.
You open your stats screen and select the "New skill choice available!" message. Immediately you are presented with a short list of skills:
- Angelic Charm (minor) – passive skill. Your angelic beauty helps to charm anyone except other angels. Enhances the power of any charm effects used by you (regardless of source) by +1% per level. Has no effect on other angels.
- Angelic Grace (minor) – passive skill. Your movements become smoother and more elegant. You receive a bonus to all checks involving movement – +1% per level.
- Angelic Craftsmanship (minor) – passive skill. As an angel you have an inherent talent for crafting. You receive a bonus to all checks involving any sort of crafting - +1% per level.
You sigh. Three skills, all of them passive and none combat-oriented. It's not really surprising since you're a librarian, not a fighter, but it's still a little disappointing.
All three seem like long-term decisions. The only one that would be of any immediate use would be the first one, thanks to the two scrolls you found. But once you have used up your scrolls who knows how long it will be before you can make use of it again.
The second skill seems like something that will be of help in combat... eventually, once you manage to obtain any combat skills. It will probably be helpful when trying to move silently too, but again you have no such skills.
The last one is definitely the most long-term one. You've read enough books to know that crafting skills, once mastered, can be incredibly valuable. But first you'll need to obtain any crafting skills and master them, and that isn't going to be easy even without all the "heroes" using you as a living sex doll. And then there's the issue of obtaining the required crafting materials. The shard you got from the dead guy is a nice start... but that is likely to be all for quite some time.
"Would be nice to know what future choices and options are unlocked by each one..." You say to yourself and frown as you look at the texts describing the skills. Just then you notice the "Choose later" option at the bottom of the screen. Maybe you should take advantage of it and leave the choice for later? After all, at your current level the bonus for any of the three is just 6%. Maybe if you gain a few more levels you will get additional skills to choose from? Then again, that might be just wishful thinking.
What do you choose?
Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
