Clothing stores

It took Zack little time to drive to the mall. Due to it being Spring Break, about seventy percent of the people in Azure Rocks were on vacation in one corner of the world or another. It made traffic very light. It also allowed for Zack to get the closest parking spot he’d ever gotten. It took him and Victoria less than a minute to go from his car to the first store she wanted to hit up.

“So Vicky, is there anything in particular you need to buy?” Zack asked his friend.

“God Zack, do you not know what the mall is for? You don’t come here for the things you need to buy. You come here for the things you WANT to buy!” Victoria laughed as Zack pondered what she said.

“Oookay then! Is there anything in particular you want to buy?” Zack rephrased his question.

“Everything!” was the response.

“Then lead the way!” the boy laughed.

Victoria proceeded to drag Zack to the clothing store closest to where they were in the mall. Once there, she tried on dresses, shoes, jeans, shirts, blouses, and even a bathing suit or two. However, nothing she tried on made it to the checkout counter. The next store she took him to, it was the same. In all they went to seven stores and neither Victoria or Zack had purchased a single item. And unfortunately for Zack, Vicky had not modeled one single item for him.

At around one in the afternoon, the pair decided it was time to break for lunch. Zack suggested one of the sit down restaurants, but Victoria insisted on eating at the food court. When they got there, they headed to the place their group always chose to eat at: the Chinese buffet. As Victoria dug through her purse looking for her money, Zack took a twenty dollar bill out of his wallet and handed it to the cashier.

“ZACK! You don’t have to do that! I can buy my own food!” Vicky informed him.

“I know. I ate your food for breakfast, so now you can eat my food for lunch,” he told her.

With their meal paid for, the pair took a seat at their usual table. With the other members of their gang not present, it felt abandoned. The two teens looked at each other without touching their food.

“Should we sit here without everyone else?” Zack asked.

“You feel weird about it too, huh?” Vicky frowned.

“Maybe we should move?”

“You know what! We’re going to have to get used to them not being around every time we go somewhere, so we may as well get a jump start on it! Let’s stay here!”

With their seating location decided, the pair ate their food.

“So, nothing caught your fancy?” Zack asked.

“Actually, a lot of things caught my fancy. Just nothing I wanted to spend money on. I’m sure there will be one item I take home. Just haven’t seen it yet!” Vicky assured her friend.
