It takes a while, standing in front of Miss Hemstitch's desk, to perceive that the little glowing mote hovering over the desk is actually trying to catch your attention. Focusing your eyes very close and cupping your ears, you make out the tiny voice and catch the blur of quickly beating wings.
"Are you looking for Miss Hemstitch?" the little creature says, in a high whine.
"Yes, I'm Eric Mothwing-Marshall," you say. You drop your voice to a whisper after you see the glowing mote flinch, pushed back by your voice and breath. "Ahh...first-year. Can I make an appointment to see the Tutor? I, well, I wanted to make sure I'm getting off to a good start," you say. The enchanted ring weighs heavily in your pocket, a tangible reminder of how your wild talent embarrassed yourself and Ms. Sterling on your very first day of classes.

- On a 10+, remove your CONSEQUENCE.
- On a 7-9, describe a complicated or costly success. Perhaps Miss Wormwood will mix up a confidence tonic (use your FAVOR). Perhaps you are assigned salutary tasks to improve your concentration (GO TO DETENTION voluntarily tomorrow, and remove the CONSEQUENCE when you complete a +DILIGENCE(0) roll). Perhaps Miss Hemstitch takes you aside and advises you to masturbate to soothe your anxieties; on a 7+, remove the CONSEQUENCE, but either a MISS or a 7-9 triggers your wild talent again.
