The Housemaster, Oscar Whiplash

"Whiplash's holding something over me, Morgan," Pip says. "If you'll speak to him? I know he likes you."

You raise your eyebrows, swallow, and nod. "Alright," you say.

The Housemaster's sitting room is starkly decorated, whites, blacks, and gray stone. It's cold, and little sounds echo against the hard surfaces.

"Woodbine," he addresses you.

"Housemaster," you greet him. "I'm here to speak for Pipistrelle Clawson, Prefect Clawson," you say.

Whiplash strokes his chin. "Indeed? I had thought you felt rather ill of her after last term." He raises his eyebrows and works his fingers, bending and stretching them. A restless man, the Housemaster.

You take a deep breath. "I'm ready to be done with all that. I mean, a class is supposed to stand together."

"Very good, Miss Woodbine," he says. He steeples his fingers and looks down the row of fingertips at you.
