Chapter 9 by PistachioMuffin PistachioMuffin

As the sun rises...

You struggle to get out of bed

After hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock for half an hour, you're finally **** to wake up by your mother. You had a lot of trouble falling asleep after your adventure last night. In the end, you're pretty sure you got less than two hours of sleep.

Thankfully, you manage to drive to school without incident and make it to class before the bell. Throughout the day, you find yourself drifting in and out of consciousness during lectures. You get a bottle of diet soda during lunch for the caffeine, but you can't tell if it actually helps or not.

By the time the final bell rings, you're so ready to be done with today. You're very careful in driving home, trying your best to keep your eyes open and your wits about you. Once you're inside, you close your door and plop down on your bed. You're tempted to fall asleep right then and there, but the thought of sleeping through dinner isn't very attractive; that would really throw you off.

Knowing you'll fall asleep if you stay put, you get out of bed and sit at your desk. It only then occurs to you that no one said anything about last night. You must have gotten away with it again, you figure. Well, that's not surprising; it was too dark in the house to see you, and even if it wasn't, who would be looking at your home at two in the morning?

Whatever, you're too tired to care about that right now. Against all odds, you're able to stay up long enough to eat dinner. After a quick shower, you head back to your room, lie down in bed, and, with your TV providing some light background noise, drift off to sleep.

Some time later, your eyes flutter open. The lights in your room are still on, you realize. You groggily raise your head and look at your alarm clock. It's 1:30 A.M.

Fantastic, now your sleep schedule is a wreck. You just slept for a good seven hours. Why even bother trying to go back to sleep at this point? You might as well just stay up for school. You have a short shift at work during the night, too. Ugh. Looks like it'll be a while before you can sleep again.

You don't have any homework you need to do for tomorrow. There's a paper due in your English class, but you already finished it earlier in the week. Damn, you're good.

You pay a quick visit to the bathroom, then collapse back onto your bed, lazily watching some late-night television while you wake up. Now that your mind is rested and you can think clearly again, your thoughts wander back to last night. Nobody really did see you, huh? Surely you would have heard about it by now if someone had. It seemed so dangerous to expose yourself like that, but, thinking about it logically, it was actually rather safe given the precautions you took and doing it so late at night and all. And you were within the walls of your family's home, too. It wasn't like you were running around naked...outside...

As you lay there, idly listening to the TV on the other side of the room, you bite down on your lip. What if...? NO! No, that's too much. That's WAY too much. If you were to leave the house without any clothes on, you'd have nothing but the dark of night to protect you. What would happen if some stranger found you like that?

...Yeah, what would happen?

Subconsciously, your fingers slip beneath the waistband of your jeans. Oh GOD, what are you thinking about? You're still a virgin for crying out loud, although you probably wouldn't be by now if that one asshole hadn't cheated on you first. Wait, now your mind is going all over the place. Why are you even thinking about running into strangers out there anyway? Who would even be out there at this time of night? Cars very rarely go by around now as far as you know. Maybe on the weekend some people might be out this late, but it's only Thursday night/early Friday morning; most everyone still has a full day of work or school ahead of them.

Right...no one should be out there. You sit up in bed, then abruptly jump out of it. You turn off your TV, followed by the lights. Rushing over to the balcony door, you peek out from behind the curtains. It's an overcast sky tonight—no moonlight to illuminate the landscape. You give everything within sight a thorough looking over. You don't see any signs of anyone being out there, nor that anyone is even awake in the nearby homes. Well, duh. It's the middle of the night; everyone is asleep. How many times do you have to tell yourself this?

Stepping away from the balcony door, you fall back against your bed again. You lay there for a while, thinking about it. Hypothetically, just hypothetically, if you were to do this, what would be the best way to go about it? In the middle of the night, of course, just like you have been. Preferably on a weeknight, too, since everyone would be in bed then. Would you go out the front door? No, probably the back; there's more cover out there, and no streetlights. You wouldn't even have to leave the yard, really; you could experience that feeling of being nude outdoors just by playing around out back.

The more you think about it, the more that feeling of need between your legs increases. You would have to wait until Monday night for the next ideal time to do it. Then again, weather might come into play. You haven't checked the forecast, but it always rains a lot in April. You would have to suppress your urges through the weekend as well. That doesn't sound fun. And what if you change your mind before then? That would be really disappointing.

You look toward the balcony door again. It's late. It's a weeknight. Everyone's asleep. Why? Why does it have to wait until next week? Why not just...do it right now?

Your breathing intensifies. Your hands reach for the button on your jeans. You undo both it and the zipper, then pull your jeans off and dump them behind your bed. Having not put on socks earlier, you feet are already bare. Your t-shirt comes off next, followed quickly by your bra. With the slide of your panties down your legs, the last of your clothes are gone.

You lay there naked atop your covers, hands roaming your body as you stare up at the ceiling. This is fine, right? You're still in your room, safe as can be. This is nothing compared to what you did last night. That's no good, though; the whole reason you're even thinking about going outside is because you need more.

You peek over at the alarm clock again. It's 2:15 A.M. now. Scooting to the edge of your bed, you bring your legs down and stand up. You walk slowly over to your door and, trying to keep calm, you turn the knob, opening it just a crack. Just like last night, the hallway is dark. No one seems to be awake. Then again, you thought that last night, too, only to have to dash into the basement when someone came downstairs for a drink. Still, that was just a random occurrence. What were the chances it would happen again tonight? Slim, you think.

The situation seems good as can be. Holy crap, if last night was considered crazy, this is just straight up insane. Going outside? Naked? You can't even fathom the troubles you could get into!

The question is, just how far does your bravery and need for excitement go? Can you really do this?

What should you do?
