Avoid bloodshed

Effie turned to Nathan and assured him that her father was a village elder and they would not be harmed if they simply did what they said and returned to the village with them. Nathan looked hesitant but agreed to going along peacefully. Effie was relieved, she didn't wish to see blood spilled between her new friend and the protectors of her village. Although she couldn't be sure whose safety she had feared for more, Nathan or the rangers. As she and Nathan mounted the stag to follow the rangers, the cat came scurrying out of the house and pawed at Effie to take him. Nathan scooped up the cat and held him tightly as they rode back to the village.
