Unexpected visitors

Effie's eyes shot open when she sensed movement in the hut. She sat up and found the wounded man standing next to her. He was clothed, not in his armor but he had put on a white shirt and black pants that he must have had beneath his armor. He looked much better despite the bandages around his head and arm that were still visible.

"I believe I have you to thank for the first aid." He commented. The man offered her a cup of steaming liquid. She took it at first she suspecting it was tea but upon tasting it found it very bitter but refreshing. "Colombian black." He said. "Always keep a small pack on me."

"It's good." She whispered, avoiding eye contact as she continued to sip from the cup. For whatever reason now that he was up and walking she suddenly found herself feeling very shy around the stranger.

The man sensing her uneasiness finally introduced himself. "I'm captain Nathan Barton of the United Earth Naval Forces Special Operations group."

"I'm Euphemia, daughter of Laertes." She timidly replied.

"Nice to meet you Euphemia." He smiled at her.

"The others just call me Effie." She said to him.

"Well alright then thank you for saving my life Effie." She blushed, throughout all this she never expected him to be so friendly. He was definitely unlike any warrior she had ever come across.

They chatted about the day's prior events and Effie explained to him how he had been brought there and how she and the wizard had healed him. The cat meanwhile remained asleep snuggled up by the fire. It wasn't until there was a loud banging on the door that the cat jumped awake and scrambled to hide beneath the bed. Effie and Nathan were also startled. Effie approached the door cautiously as Nathan grabbed his pistol from his armor. Effie opened the door and found a group of a dozen rangers from her village standing around the hut. They ordered all the occupants inside to step out. Effie stepped out first, Nathan followed, with his pistol hidden behind his back, tucked safely into his pants. He leaned against the wall to further conceal it.

"Euphemia, daughter of Laertes?" The ranger in charged asked.

"Yes..." She whispered

"Your family is worried about you." The Ranger said. "You're brother told us all about the stranger you found. We are here to safely escort you back to the village."

"What will become of my friend?" She nervously asked.

"You will both come with us back to the village whether you willingly do so or not girl." The ranger ordered
