Chapter 26 by elmerstories elmerstories

What do you do?

Help her

You want to get to know this girl better and help her. Somehow, she gives that vibe despite the fact that she is supposed to be helping you and others.

Well, as she says, it is her first day.

"Look, Gemma, forget about the ticket..." you begin.

"O-okay?"

"...and now, I really want to help you. Something tells me that you're apprehensive not because this is your first day, am I correct?" you ask.

You feel like you're turning into Dr. Phil or something. The thought makes you smile for a moment, but you quickly hide it, showing the officer that you are taking her seriously.

Gemma's lips quivers and you see tears starting to brim in her eyes. Just as she is about to speak, your "mother" got out of the car to join in the conversation, unable to help but wonder why the long chat with her son and officer.

You are honestly surprised to see her join in when you reassured her that you will handle the situation. Although, you never really told her to explicitly to stay in the car.

Melanie gasps as she sees the poor, tearful girl who apparently is having bad memories spring up on her. You feel guilty for forcing her to talk, but her tears only made you intent on finding out her problem and helping her.

"Oh dear, is something wrong, s-officer?" Melanie asks, quickly covering her rising maternal feelings as she watches the girl.

Trying to remain strong, she wipes away the tears and shakes her head in response. Focusing her attention on you, she explains her circumstances properly.

"I-I don't think it's something you have to worry about, but you've been so kind to me. You see, I..."

What is her problem?
