Catch up with Todd.

Dropping your guns onto your coffee table, you take a seat on the couch gesturing for Todd to sit as well. As he does, you realize just how much he has changed since you last saw him. He was no longer the chubby, slightly-awkward high schooler you remember him to be. He had lost a lot of weight and he actually had some muscle on him. You actually thought he was pretty good-looking, but you figured this is probably because he is the only man you have seen in months and that you would find anyone attractive after months of no human contact.

"You look so different, Todd."

"Yeah, the apocalypse is a pretty good weight loss tool." You chuckled at his joke. Todd was always cracking jokes and you were glad to see his personality remained intact after the world had ended.

"So," Todd spoke again, "what are you doing back home? I thought you were going to school in New York."

"I was, but after the Plague hit, I wanted to spend the rest of what time I had left with my family. Me and Charlie left New York and came back home. One-by-one I lost everybody. Then I got sick, and then suddenly, I got better and I was no longer sick."

You are on the verge of tears as Todd wraps his arms around you. You place your head on his shoulder and start gently sobbing.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you relive that. The same thing happened to me, I got just as sick as everybody else, but I was the only one who got better. I have trouble deciding if I was the one of the lucky ones, or if this is some kind of curse."

You sit in silence in Todd's arms for a few minutes before you look back at him and thank him for consoling you. Todd suggests that you two should start cooking dinner food for supper. He grabs some cans and brings them into the kitchen. As you stand up to help him, he tells you to sit and relax, and that he will make the meal. You smile at him and sit back on the couch, happy for his help. He heads into the kitchen and starts preparing the food.
