Chapter 66 by Vain Vain

But is Zachary still too slow to reply...? What's on with everyone else...?

Some other things reach the surface, between the three guys in the car

"Are you sure it's okay to leave Zachary alone with the girls...?" Gavin asked out of the blue, for no other obvious reason than to just break the silence, and immediately regretted he'd said anything at all as he realized what he'd made it sound like. In fact, he'd not been intending it that way at all, but immediately couldn't stop from thinking about it when he remembered how everyone had been reacting throughout this entire day.

"Yeah, why...?" Brandon gleaned back at him in the rear view mirror of his car, and it was difficult to tell if he was annoyed or simply reflecting as a deep frown formed on his brow. "You could've just stayed there too, if you really wanted to?"

"No, not really..." The young man stuttered uncertainly, as he knew full well why he'd chosen to join the other two guys to the hospital. He wouldn't have been able to look Chloe in the eyes after what he'd done out there in the woods, and the same went for Ashley as well. The problem now was that he could Barely talk to Brandon or Kurt either...

"I could've gone by myself, you know." Brandon continued, but then his expression softened somewhat as he must have realized how stern he must have seemed. "Well, I'm glad you joined us at least..."

"Yeah, me too!" Kurt grinned at him from the front seat, and caused them both to give him a worried glance. It seemed like the painkillers were kicking in at last, but was making the guy increasingly talkative while also muddling his mind a bit. It wasn't like he was actually delirious or something, but definitively not thinking clearly either. "Hey, Gavin? Did you ever get something on with that blonde chick...?"

"What, Victoria...?" Brandon was a little surprised to see Gavin suddenly blushing deep red, as if Kurt's question had been spot on. Apparently there had been a bit more going on around him than he'd noticed during their trip to the cabin, and just for once he was more than happy to talk or think about somebody else's love-problems than his own.

It also reminded him of his own stupid move on the beautiful blonde back in the kitchen however, and made him realize that there was a lot more he'd have to apologize for than just his lust for Heather. If any of the other guys had been behaving like he'd done himself, it just might end up taking the focus of his own stupid actions though....

"What's this about, Gavin?" He couldn't help but smile at the idea of the shy young man approaching a girl like Vicky. "Were you actually hitting on her...?"

"Well, not really..." The other guy cringed uncomfortably in the back seat, but didn't outright deny that the thought of it had crossed his mind at some point at least. "We were just talking a bit, and then..."

"And then it just happened?" Kurt filled him in, without even seeming to know what he was talking about. Whatever he said it seemed like it managed to hit another weak spot with Gavin however, who was now starting to look like he was about to jump out the window at any moment. "Did she go down on you, or what...?"

"No!" Gavin objected, and was clearly starting to sweat by now. For some reason his eyes kept turning back to Brandon's though, and it didn't take him all that long to realize there was something not quite right about this entire story. "It wasn't like that at all!"

"Gavin...?" Brandon suddenly found himself smiling to himself, and the poor guy's reaction to his voice made it almost impossible for him to keep from laughing out loud. Another day he just might have been shocked to hear about this, but right now it only seemed to fit in so well with the entire picture. "What exactly were you and Ashley up to this morning...?"

"Oh, really...?" Kurt leaned his head back against the seat again, and could barely keep from chuckling himself at the story unfolding around him. He'd known for sure that Vicky had never been alone with Gavin for long, as she'd stormed right into the room when he was busy convincing that bashful redhead into a little private chat, and so he'd seen it as a fairly neutral subject to tease him about.

The fact that he'd apparently managed to get something on with Brandon's cute little girlfriend was something he'd never even considered though, and he was if possible even more surprised about it than Brandon himself. Just like Brandon he'd probably got quite upset about it as well another day, especially as he'd failed to get close to any of the girls himself during their short stay, but after today he could probably laugh at just about anything.

"Seriously?!" He found himself asking again, as his mind must have been a bit too foggy from the pain and the painkillers to keep up, and once again couldn't keep from chuckling at the image appearing in front of his eyes. "And then you just left her in the water to clean herself up...?!"

"Damn, Gavin..." Even Brandon was smiling and shaking his head in disbelief at this last part of the **** confession. His brown eyes were surprisingly full of laughter too, for a guy who'd just found out he'd been practically cheated on this very same morning, and he turned to Kurt as if the entire deal that ended with a broken arm was completely forgiven. "Seems like you're the one falling behind, Kurt!"

"No kidding..." The blonde young man smirked sarcastically, but was in fact pretty happy that nothing ever went any further overboard than it actually did. He'd almost been about to **** himself onto every single girl in their group, and even his own cousin hadn't been safe from his rampage. Thus, to know that there were others who'd been just as **** gave him at least a sense of justification for his actions.

"I'd still need to spend some time in a cloister though..." He thought to himself, as he was still clear enough in the head to be able and see his own wrongs. Then he looked back at those past two days, and just for once made yet another exactly correct observation. "It was all about the water, wasn't it...?"

"Hey, Gavin...?" He pondered out loud, but found that his energy was slowly being sapped away from all of this talking, and the painkillers didn't help to keep his attention at any one thing for long. "You should call Heather, and tell her to stay out of the lake while we're gone...!"

That's what he wanted to say at least, but wasn't all too sure of how much the others were able to hear of it before he slipped away into restless slumber."Well, Heather could probably take care of herself anyways..."

How long till they make it to the hospital? Will Kurt's message ever reach his cousin? Would she even care about it at all...?
