Chapter 63 by Vain Vain

What's happening next then? And what's the first priority for the group right now...?

Zack's in trouble once again, and calls for another choice to be made

"Well, that makes for the strangest day in my entire life...!" Heather summarized, while she and the two girls who'd joined her up at the ledge leaned back against the cabin wall, with all of them still a bit out of breath after the quick dash back down from the falls. Luckily they were all in pretty good shape after all, and she couldn't help from commending Chloe on being able to take the lead. "Never thought about joining the cheerleader team...?"

"I prefer playing an actual sport!" The cute redhead flashed her a quick smile in return, but choose not to turn down the offer entirely. It could be something to consider after all, if she meant to surpass any of the others in winning the heart of the man she'd dreamed of for such a long time...

"I just hope the guys are fine on their own..." Ashley didn't really follow the others conversation at all, as she was instead staring off down the road where Brandon's car had just disappeared out of sight around the bend. At first she'd insisted on joining them to the hospital as well, but finally allowed for the guy to talk her out of it. Of all the people they knew, she really wasn't the best one to keep her calm in a situation like this.

"I'm sure they are!" Heather shot her a quick laugh, that was enough to soothe at least herself for a while. She knew that her cousin wasn't always as tough as he looked though, and she felt just a little bit bad for starting out with a bloody scolding when she'd found him in bed with his arm all messed up. "And I'm sure that Brandon will take good care of him too. He was certainly making a lot of apologies at least..."

"I'm just surprised that Gavin asked to go with them." Chloe frowned a little as she was trying to think about it objectively. She'd actually hoped to talk to him as soon as possible, after what happened between them out in the woods, but as it seemed he would much rather join the other two guys on the trip back to town.

At first they'd asked for an ambulance, but as the nearest hospital was a bit out of people during summer breaks, they'd agreed to drive poor Kurt back to town themselves. Luckily they'd had quite a few painkillers in their baggage at least, and it seemed like the guy was taking it fairly well considering the circumstances.

Then there was the problem with the strange waste-pipe they found up by the waterfall, though none of them had really talked about it with any of the others yet, due to the much more urgent matter with that broken arm. Heather had managed to call someone she knew at the ranger's station at least, but there was no one available to look into it until next morning at best.

"Just try not to drink too much from the tap in the cabin, just in case that stuff has made it all the way down to the ground water...!" Heather had instructed the other two on their way back down from the falls, but also mentioned that she didn't want to scare the others unnecessarily. There was no point in making the guys worry about them after all, especially if Brandon and Gavin wouldn't be able to get back to the cabin until next day.

"What about Zack and Vicky though...?" Ashley was the first one to remember that the three of them wasn't actually alone out there by the cabin. Her friend Victoria had of course no reason to go with the others back to town, and possibly spend most of her evening at the hospital in wait for the doctors to have a look at Kurt. Same went for Zachary too of course, and for some reason it seemed like Brandon had insisted that at least one of the guys should stay with the girls.

Well, it wasn't all that strange though, now that she thought about it. One of the cars was Zack's after all, so there was no point in him going with the rest of them, and with all the weirdness going on back up by the falls she was more than happy to keep at least someone around to scare off possible intruders.

Then there was another reason to why she was both happy, and equally quite uncomfortable about spending another evening with Zack in the cabin... And from the looks of it, it seemed like the other two girls by her side had just realized the possible problems about this as well.

"Yeah..." Heather nodded slowly, while a slight, thoughtful frown formed on both her and Chloe's pretty faces. "What exactly happened with those two...?"

"Oh, shit..." Zack found himself cursing in mild surprise, even as he'd finally seemed to reach that moment he'd been hoping to come for years. For the first time he was actually all on his own with the young woman of his dreams, and everything seemed to be going just the right way... Except that he wasn't really prepared for it at all!

"Wait...! It wasn't supposed to be like this...?!" Some part of him was trying to object while Vicky had managed to catch him off guard, and literally pushed him back against the wall. For the first time he was able to look her right in the eyes from a short distance like this, only to find something completely different from the sweet young woman he'd fallen in love with such a long time ago.

Well, on another day he might not have minded it at all, but with everything else going down on his mind he'd only been sincerely wanting to offer his help to her, and possibly try and comfort her after all that happened around them. In truth he was actually pretty sure by now that she was only interested in other girls, and so he'd finally dared to approach her without the fear of making a fool of himself.

Much to his surprise it seemed to have worked though, and by far exceeding his wildest expectations...

"Hey, Vicky...?" He tried to hold her off for a second, if only to be able and catch his breath, but wasn't allowed to finish the sentence before she was mashing her lips back to his own again. It should have felt so perfectly right, but with all that happened it just seemed so wrong at the same time.

"After all that happened to Kurt, and between me and..." His mind stood still for a moment as he recalled the rest of his strange day by the cabin, and he found himself melting slowly to Victoria's persistent kisses. He'd already been making out with more girls today than most of his lifetime, and definitively been getting a lot more than just that as well.

"Damn, what's wrong with us...?" He pondered for a second, while the rest of his body was starting to act on it's own, much more basic instincts. And that's when he suddenly became aware of the eyes that watched them from the doorway, which caused his whole body to tense right up again...

"We should have kept her on the cheerleader team..." Heather mumbled under her breath, while she stood back and watched the action going on inside the cabin's spacious kitchen, and smiled as she could see the blonde right next to her nodding her head in consent. They'd let their friend go after just a few workouts together, as Vicky insisted she needed more time to study, and also didn't really fit in among the rest of the troupe. "She certainly knows how to raise one's spirits at least...!"

"Well, yeah." Ashley nodded again, and this time managed a wicked little grin that matched even Heather's. While she too was quite surprised to find their slender young friend being quite so physical, it was quite the sight to find 'poor' Zachary at the receiving end of the girl's unconditional attention. "Do you think he'd appreciate our help, or not...?"

Meanwhile, Chloe was the only one finding it a bit difficult to laugh at the situation at hand, even if she was in fact just happy that it'd finally come down to something like this. Hearing the others make fun of it however, together with the fact that her old friend didn't seem entirely happy with all of it, was making her almost nauseous at the idea of everything coming down to the worst kind of ending she could possibly think of.

She wouldn't have mind to see the two of those becoming a pair after all that happened, and especially as she'd already managed to have some fun with both of them before it. In fact, she wouldn't even mind if it turned out to be Ashley or Heather to win the guy's heart, as she'd then just might have a chance on stealing sweet Victoria all to herself. In the best of all worlds though, she'd still want to spend a whole lot of her time together with Zack again, without feeling shame every time she looked him in the eyes...

"Hey, Chloe...?" The busty cheerleader captain suddenly cut off her current trail of thoughts, and **** her to look up at the girl's smiling face again. The tone to her voice had changed ever so slightly, and she was now sincerely asking for the redhead's final opinion. "Are we helping out here? Or just staying the hell out of it...?"

Well, should they? What's Zachary's say in all this, if he has the right to say anything at all...?
