Chapter 156 by Duskford Duskford

Does anything of note happens during lunch?

Kendra follows Shawn's orders

Despite the fact that a big table had been set up on the deck, everyone chose to sit by each of the smaller tables to eat, as there were some sore spots between a select few members of the large group.

At one of those tables, Victoria, Dustin and Ashley chatted amiably as they reminisced about the past. Dustin laughed hard as he hit the table.

“I can’t believe I fell for that!” He said, smiling at the two blondes.

“Well,” Vicky trailed. “You have to admit I was pretty convincing that time.”

Ashley shrugged with a hint of a smile. “I guess we do look a bit alike.”

They were talking about a time shortly after Victoria and Dustin met, in which the green-eyed blonde introduced Ashley to him as her sister before she burst out laughing and told him the truth.

Ashley observed the interaction between her best friend and her ex with a small smile on her face. In her mind, the equation was simple, Victoria to Dustin and Zack to Heather, but something was telling her that Vicky was only investing so much time in those conversations with Dustin because she wanted to **** herself to forget about Zack.

She glanced to a table a few feet to her right, where Zack was sitting in the company of Taylor, Chloe, Gavin, Hannah and Peter. He was staring wistfully at Victoria, and Ash gave him a sympathetic smile when their gazes caught each other.

At that moment, Vicky and Dustin’s conversation died down as Kendra walked over to their table. The brown-haired girl plopped down on an empty chair beside Dustin’s and smiled at her ex’s younger brother.

“Hey, Dustin,” She greeted, a bit too huskily in Victoria and Ashley’s opinion. “Quite the lovely day, isn’t it?”

The younger of the Lewis brothers raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Uhn, yeah, Kendra,” He said. “It really is.”

Victoria frowned as she witnessed the exchange, for someone who had been forcefully kissed just the previous night, Kendra was acting a bit too cheerfully for her tastes. Her gaze unwittingly strayed to Zachary’s table and she noticed he had a look of confusion on his face as he observed their table.

“So,” Kendra continued, oblivious to the few looks being directed her way. “Shawn tells me you’re one hell of a fisherman?”

“Uhn, yeah, I know a couple tricks.” Dustin stammered in embarrassment.

“Oh, goodie,” The older girl said cheerfully, before her voice changed into a seductive one. “Maybe you can give me a few pointers later, such as the right way to grab the pole, for starters.”

Victoria and Ashley’s eyes widened and Dustin’s skin flushed at the blatant innuendo, however, Dustin recovered fast enough give an appropriate retort.

“Well, Kendra,” He said, scratching the back of his neck. “If you really want to learn how to fish, you should ask Brandon.”

“But…”

“He’s the expert around here, not me.” Dustin interrupted in a serious voice, a small smile on his face.

Seeing no way to keep insisting on the matter, Kendra mumbled an apology and slinked away to the table she was sharing with Shawn, although Dustin’s brother was absent from there.

Victoria wildly looked between Ashley and Dustin, an expression of disbelief written on her face. “What the heck was that?”

Ashley just smiled as she stood up. She leaned down to her friend’s ear. “No idea, but that makes you wonder about another little incident that Kendra was involved, don’t you think?” She whispered and patted Vicky’s shoulder before she skipped away to the big table to get herself a burger.

What happens next?
