Heather arrives at the same time

At the same time Zack was lowering himself onto a couch, Heather was coming from the opposite way and he could swear that, had he been a cartoon, his chin would have dropped to the floor at how elegant and sexy the blue-eyed brunette looked in a blue summer dress with a white flowery pattern and a pair of black high-heeled ankle boots. All negative thoughts caused by Victoria flew from his mind instantly.

A couple seconds passed before he noticed she was trying to drag a quite big plastic bag from the other hallway. He rushed to her side. “Let me do it,” Zack offered, drawing a smile from her. “You look really great, by the way.”

“Thanks,” Heather replied and he thought he saw her cheeks reddening. “Those are our dirty clothes that I figured we should take to a Laundromat back in town, Chloe helped me gather everything.”

“Now that you’ve mentioned it, I’ve wondered why there wasn’t a washing machine here.” Zack commented while dragging the bag to the door.

“We used to have one by that empty corner on the kitchen,” Heather answered. “But last time my dad and I came here, the machine broke and you can see he forgot to replace it.”

At that moment, Chloe appeared from the same way Heather had come from, wearing a long red nightshirt and a pair of black socks. “That’s everything, Heather,” The redhead informed. “I couldn’t find anything else.”

Heather shot a grateful smile at Chloe, while Zack looked at his old friend. “There are the ones I just took off before showering,” He said. “But we can leave those for next time.”

“Someone seems to be on a chirpy mood today.” Heather remarked, looking at a smiling Chloe.

The redhead’s grin widened even more. “Well, Gavin asked me to be his girlfriend last night.” She shyly told them.

“Chloe, that’s amazing!” Zack said as he hugged his best friend. “Do I need to have a talk with him?”

Chloe laughed. “No, Zack,” She replied with amusement in her voice. “But thanks for the concern.”

“Congrats,” Heather hugged the redhead as well. “I’m happy for you, you two will be really good to each other.”

“Ok, Heather, I’m taking this to the car.” Zack said, dragging the bag with the dirty clothes outside.

The busty cheerleader retrieved her purse from the couch. “We’ve got to get going, Chloe,” She told the other girl while waving with her hand. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”

Once outside, Zack put the bag into the trunk and opened the car’s door for Heather. The brunette raised an eyebrow. “Look at that, a genuine gentleman.” She teased him.

Zack shrugged. “Well, it’s not my fault if I’ve learned that way,” He smirked before going to the driver’s side and getting into the vehicle as well. “So, next stop, Azure Rocks?”

Heather nodded enthusiastically and Zack couldn’t help but feel excited for that little trip. The way they were dressed and behaving themselves, they looked every bit like a young couple going for a nice weekend in town, as bizarre as that sounded in his head.

”A date with Heather?” Zachary asked himself, trying not to chuckle. ”Yeah, right, like that’s what this really is.”

He tried not to think about his recent streak of bad luck with Victoria as he steered his car back to the road that would lead them to Azure Rocks.
