Secluded Meeting
Wendell was standing in the top floor bathroom of Arlen Hall, a tall and narrow building wedged up inbetween two other shorter buildings. It was mostly auxiliary classrooms and hardly saw any use, most of the classes being held on the first and second floors anyway. Arlen Hall had no elevator. This means that, in order for someone to use this restroom, they had to climb 6 flights of stairs in a building that they probably had no reason to be in. At 5 in the afternoon, it was the only secluded place he could think of. The bathroom was a generic tiled affair with a few stalls and sinks and those buzzing flourescent lights that, in the quiet, can give one a strange sense of paranoia. Wendell had chosen to meet here because the dorm walls were quite thin to be talking about his ideas for the raygun. After all, in the dorms the sound of Hank and Stacy going at it was a common one. Wendell looked at his watch:
5:08...Well, I'll wait a little longer. He could be late, but I bet he's too freaked. I would be.
The door opened with a neat cliclick, and in walked Guy, in his familiar letterman jacket and an unfamiliar look of apprehension. "I wasn't sure you were going to show." Wendell said as the door clacked back into place.
"I almost didn't," Guy replied.
"What made you change your mind?"
"I thought about what you said. I guess I....can be...a....jerk...sometimes. Ok?"
"And the sex has nothing to do with it?"
"Wendell..." Guy said through clenched teeth.
"All right! I'm not gonna make you say it."
Guy put both his hands in his jacket pockets and with a short exhale he said, "So, what's the big plan then?"
"I thought about that last night," Wendell said hefting up a duffle bag, "and I think I know who needs a good takedown first. Catch." Wendell tossed the bag to Guy. The athlete caught it easily. "Take a peek in there. I promise you're gonna like this."
Guy set about putting the bag on the floor and opening it up.
