How to Stay Calm
The seminar was called “How to Stay Calm in a Crisis.”
Five minutes in, the instructor turned off the lights and set off a surprise alarm.
The women screamed, jumped to their feet, and desperately grabbed whatever they could find to hold onto.
Unfortunately, what they grabbed were each other’s pants.
“Let go!”
“You let go!”
They pulled in opposite directions.
They struggled, stumbled, and desperately tried to get away from whatever they thought was holding them fast in the darkness.
Another frantic tug.
RIIIP.
At that moment, the lights came back on.
The two women froze.
The other seminar participants stared at them.
They were still clinging tightly to each other.
“Very good,” said the instructor. “Mutual support and physical closeness are very effective ways to cope with crises.”
Then they slowly looked down.
