The Gamer, Chyoa Edition: The Machinist

(A/N: Hey ya'll! Chain here. This story was originally supposed to be a branch of TheDespaxas story, but due to several issues involving constant over-complicating the submission process and inability to actually see the guidelines, I decided to just go with my last resort option of publishing it as an independent story while making a referral to his own story should anyone wish to see the 'main canon' from which this story originates from. I effectively had to copy and paste the first chapter, and edit it a bit due to a slightly different writing format and image issues I can't quite get around yet, just so I could start my branch where I wanted it to be in his story, but couldn't from the previously stated issues. So other than that copy-paste-edit for the first chapter, since it's a requirement for my branch to even get started, everything else is written by me from scratch starting from the second chapter onward.

Aside from a few OCs I personally create in this story, expect to see a few familiar faces from the other branches as alternate selves in this story from TheDespaxas and the various branches from other authors or even some who were not expanded upon and given a more in-depth role in this story with my own unique spin to them.

It had all started yesterday. John just had his 18th birthday and when he woke up the next day everything had changed.

As his alarm clock rang, he was surprised to see a large frame floating in mid-air in front of him.

"What a strange dream. What the fuck?!" he screamed.

Gamer's Body Lvl MAX: Your body is like a video game character, damage reduces your health rather than wounding you. Any status conditions can become treatable through consumable items or curative skills. All HP, MP, and status conditions can be restored through sleeping in a bed for a few hours.

Gamer's Spirit Lvl Max: Everything you do will be translated into quests and skills that can be upgraded through practice and obtaining the correct stats. Some skills and items require certain stats to use, and some items and skills can be affected with special buffs when used by the Gamer.

The stats listed reflected what he was, a tall but skinny dude totally out of shape who spent all his time studying, playing video games and watching porn. He was not exactly ugly but lacked anything making him especially attractive to girls.

There was even a full picture of him, strangely fully naked but he had his watch and boxers equipped in some squares around his body. There were slots for nearly every type of item he could wear and an empty inventory with 24 free slots.

He clicked on the icon of his boxers and tried to slide it into his inventory.

Suddenly he was stark naked, the piece of clothing had disappeared from his body, something he would have to be careful with in the future. He wished his dick was bigger but then he doubted it would matter much anyway, as any girl desperate enough to like him wouldn't care about him being on the small side with only 4.5 inches of dick.

He clicked on the icon of his boxers.

The comment about his boxers were true but strange. But then he now remembered something that had shocked him deeply. He had just read all those pop-ups, but people can't read in a dream. He had seen a documentary about dreams and it was clearly said that trying to read was a sure way to know if one was dreaming.

It was real life, his life had just turned into a video game!

The possibilities were endless, if what he just read was true he would become better at anything by practice and could grind his way into mastering subjects he was very bad at.

Getting ready for school was truly a beginner quest, a way for him to get some free EXP and maybe see how it worked.
