The Second Nightmare

Chapter 11 by NudeBare NudeBare

The strip search was worse than before. The same hands, the same cold air, the same hungry eyes. But this time, there was an audience—the same spectators, the same reporters, the same family members who’d come to watch my shame.

I tried to cover myself, but the bailiffs pulled my hands away. I tried to scream, but the words wouldn’t come. I just stood there, naked and broken, while the world looked on.

My mother was screaming. Miguel was shouting. Elena was crying. But their voices were distant, muffled, like they were coming from underwater.

And my father was silent. He just sat there, staring at the floor, unable to look at me.

I was alone. I’d always been alone. And now I had nothing left.

The ankle monitor they put on me was heavier than the last one. It was thick and black, a constant weight on my leg. And it was connected to a live stream—a camera that would broadcast my movements to the court, to the judge, to anyone who wanted to watch.

“This is your new reality,” the bailiff said. “You’re on display now, 24/7. No privacy. No hiding. Just you and the world.”

I didn’t respond. I didn’t have the words. I just sat there, naked and shivering, and let them do what they wanted.

When they were done, they led me out of the courtroom. The reporters were waiting, their cameras flashing, their voices a wall of noise.

“How does it feel, Julia?”

“Are you going to appeal?”

“Do you have anything to say to the judge?”

I stopped. I looked at them, at the cameras, at the world that had turned me into a spectacle.

“I have nothing to say,” I said. “Nothing at all.”

And I walked away.
