Proceed or retreat?

Descend the stone steps into the underground chambers to investigate what lies below

Chapter 9 by magictcg magictcg

Ancient ruins courtyard, Monster Forest zone, at 08:41 AM on Monday January, 2025.

You approach the dark rectangular opening, your torn schoolgirl uniform hanging in worthless scraps from your voluptuous frame. The stone steps descend at a measured angle, each one roughly hewn but deliberately placed. You place one hand against the crumbling wall for balance—moss and something slicker coating your palm—and begin your descent. Your massive breasts swing with each careful step, the runic tattoos across them brightening as you move deeper, casting an eerie glow against weathered stone.

The humming intensifies as you go deeper. Twenty steps down. Thirty. The air grows cooler, damper, carrying mineral notes and something organic beneath them—a vegetal sweetness like rotting flowers mixed with copper. The bioluminescent fungi coating the walls becomes denser, creating an ethereal phosphorescent landscape. Your tattoos pulse in synchronization with the fungal rhythm, as if resonating with some frequency calibrated specifically for your cursed body.

The chamber opens before you—a vast circular space perhaps sixty feet across, its walls covered entirely in that glowing fungal bloom. The murals beneath the fungi are barely visible, but what you can make out shows scenes of impossible eroticism: figures with exaggerated curves intertwined with serpentine forms, their expressions frozen in states of rapture or surrender. The ritual space of ancient worshippers who understood what this world had become long before you arrived.

But what seizes your attention is the tendril.

Coiled in the chamber's far corner, partially recessed into shadow, lies what appears to be a limb—perhaps twenty feet in length, the thickness of a man's torso. Its surface ripples with subtle bioluminescence, a sickly green that contrasts with your tattoos' crimson glow. It doesn't move. Doesn't respond to your presence. Yet you feel it—a distant, drowsy consciousness, something vast and ancient that has withdrawn into dormancy, leaving only this fragment behind like a discarded appendage.

Your pulse quickens. This is a Tentacle creature—or what remains of one. And it's asleep.

The chamber extends further back, and you can make out the pale gleam of worked stone—more passages, more tunnels branching away into deeper darkness. The air current flowing through suggests significant space beyond, perhaps miles of underground passage. To your left, near ground level, you notice water pooling: the beginning of a flooded section, barely visible in the fungal glow.

The tendril shifts—minutely, barely perceptible. But definite. Its bioluminescent surface brightens fractionally, as if it's becoming aware of something. Not yet fully awake. Not yet hunting. But stirring. Your tattoos pulse harder in response, and you realize with dawning horror that your breeding-curse pheromones are reaching through the dark to caress that sleeping thing, calling to it with a signal older than words.
