The meal
The meal was good, and you chatted and laughed about how you were technically married now under merfolk culture. It was light-hearted, and Marnie started it. She kept calling both of you ‘Wife’ in an over-the-top exaggerated way, made even more funny by her sugary sweet voice getting all high-pitched with excitement and uncontainable joy. She kept saying things like “Pass the salt, Wife Brandy” and “Good cooking, Wife Carrie”.
You responded, “Well caught, Wife Marnie.”
“Actually, Wife Carrie, shouldn’t that be Wife Aquamarine?” Brandy added. Marnie glared at her but then burst out laughing.
After composing herself, she replied. “Well, if you like the taste of my fish so much, perhaps you should eat my fish pussy, Wife Carrie.” This was the second part of the tradition, copulation. It was meant to be the first time, having met your partner on the open ocean and combined rafts. But that ship had sailed.
