The Temporal Intrusion
Just as Walter reached for the screwdriver, the air in the workshop didn't just vibrate; it tore.
It wasn't the mechanical hum of his invention or the controlled crackle of static electricity. This was a sound like heavy silk being ripped by an invisible hand, followed by a low, rhythmic thrumming that made the tools on the workbench dance. A shimmering rift, swirling with hues of violet and deep cobalt, manifested in the space between the tool rack and his main desk. It was a vertical wound in reality, beautiful and terrifying, pulsing with a light that seemed to swallow the shadows of the garage.
Walter froze, his hand hovering inches from his machine. His heart hammered against his ribs—not with the triumph of a successful test, but with the sheer, bewildering shock of an unexpected guest.
