The Wolf and the Host
When David walked into the garden, multiple gates dropped down, blocking every exit.
“What’s going on?” He looked around and saw Fiora sitting on her chair, looking even more frightened. Then, Esmeralda and Akita appeared in a flash. David quickly moved so that he was between the host and Fiora.
“Easy David, I’m not going to hurt her. We just need to talk about something that happened last night.” This didn’t help calm David down at all. He stayed in his spot until Fiora gently took his hand.
“It’ll be ok Daddy. Please, sit.” David hesitated, but sat down on one of the garden chairs. What he wasn’t expecting was for Fiora to sit on his lap instead of literally anywhere else.

But seeing that she still seemed frightened, he let her sit there and even wrapped his arms around her. He glared at Esmeralda, assuming that she was responsible.
“You have some explaining to do. Why is Fiora so frightened?” Akita looked away in shame while Esmeralda sighed.
“That would be my fault. Despite what it might seem, I am not immune to human mistakes. I forgot to have the hotel locked on nights with a full moon. And when things got out of hand, it led to Fiora getting stuck in the middle of things. For that, I am genuinely sorry.” Both Fiora and David were surprised by her apology.
“Um, apology accepted, I think. But what was going on with Akita? She was a wolf, then she pounced on me and wasn’t a wolf.” Esmeralda looked at Akita, which made the other two look over as well.
“My final curse. Like mentioned before, had racist host. Though it funny if I turn into wolf. Full moon, go into heat. Can’t control.” Esmeralda rested a gentle hand on Akita’s shoulder before looking back at the other two.
“Like I said, you never should have been able to exit the hotel to begin with. Because that was my mistake, and it clearly caused you some distress, I’m going to offer you some compensation. Nothing major, but all you have to do is name it.” The idea of this seemed to make Fiora uncomfortable.
“I hate to sound like a prick, but I have to know. Is Akita going to be a danger to my women?” Esmeralda almost chuckled at David’s use of words.
“No. I will be sure to lock the hotel whenever there is a full moon. Any other time, Akita is a massive sweetheart, even as a wolf.” Esmeralda ruffled Akita’s hair, causing the other woman to growl until she stopped.
“I’m sorry if I offended you Akita,” said David. Akita gave him a toothy smile.
“No offence. I understand.”
“Um, what is your relationship? Are you really just a boss and an employee?” asked Fiora, who seemed to be getting back to herself.
“Sorry dear, but that is for us to know and for you to find out. Now, have you decided what you want?” asked Esmeralda. Fiora looked slightly upset again before answering.
“Can you make it so that I no longer have nightmares?” This caught David’s attention. Esmeralda looked away with a frown.
“Unfortunately, no, I cannot. The Director has made it clear that things like that are a struggle that you have to go through without the use of magic.” Fiora slouched.
“Oh, I understand. Um, can I think about it longer?”
“Of course dear, just let me know when you do. Now, I do have to go as Olivia is calling me.” Esmeralda and Akita disappeared and the gates lifted. Once they did, Fiora tuned so that she could see David’s face.
“I know that look Daddy. I’ll be fine, I don’t get these nightmares very often. Maybe once a month.” David raised an eyebrow. “It used to be almost everyday, so once a month is much better.” He sighed and held her tighter against him.
“I know you’ll be fine, you’ve been through worse. But I still care about you, and worry about you.” Fiora moved so that she was straddling him.
“Awwwww, that’s really sweet Daddy. For that, you deserve a reward.” Before David really knew what was happening, Fiora grabbed his face and kissed him right on the lips.

She quickly broke the kiss and jumped off his lap. Her smile had returned, which brought a smile to David’s face.
“I’ll see you later, Daddy!” David watched her run off and felt a familiar feeling in his heart.
…
Olivia was on the same hill she was on the last time she called Esmeralda for something. This time, she had a notebook in her hands. When Esmeralda appeared, Olivia wasted no time in shoving the notebook into the host’s face.
“I came up with an idea for the next mini challenge!” Esmeralda looked over the pages of the notebook, seemingly reading it faster than humanly possible.
“The classic bikini contest. Yes, this is always a good one. The old reliable as they say. Although I do have one concern.” Esmeralda handed the notebook back to Olivia.
“Really, what’s wrong with it?”
“You want David to be the judge. Well, it seems that you forgot that he is a biased judge. Even if I rip his votes from his subconscious, he’ll still always vote for Rachel first.” Olivia's face palmed at this.
“Why didn’t I think of that?”
“Do not despair. I am still going to use this idea of yours, as I think it’s wonderful. Instead, I’m going to make the audience the judge.” Olivia hesitated, but nodded.
“Good girl. And I see that you want this tomorrow, during your date. I look forward to it. And Olivia, thank you.” Without another word, Esmeralda disappeared, leaving Olivia alone.
