Les Beaucorps

Jacques and Anaïs Beaucorps moved down to America while their children were in high school - in particular, their eldest George was beginning senior year.

This excursion down south lasted only a few years before NAFTA **** them back to Canada, but George had stuck around with his new beau Selena, helping her as they went through college and she law school. The family visited every couple of years, volunteering to make the trip from Quebec, but this became more sporadic as they got older and as Renee and Marcus made things more difficult at home.

The two kids, in turn, always had a complicated relationship with that side of the family. Given Selena's family troubles, they were the grandparents they always spoke to, and indeed Renee appreciated her only living grandmother. The family was especially keen on Renee knowing so much about the Habs for being a girl and bantering about how they would eventually bring the Stanley Cup home, let alone being the captain of the hockey team. However, as they got older, they grew apart, especially as mamie spoke little English and Marcus almost defected to the Maple Leafs before the threat of disownment made him settle for the Senators.

Still, Renee appreciated the chance to talk with everyone just before she left high school and set off for her adult life.
