Does she make it to the information desk
Well what happened to us
They found the info booth near the edge of the main hall. The woman behind the counter looked up as they approached, took one glance at the matching Spider suits, and didn’t even blink.
“First timers?” she asked.
John nodded. Miles shifted his weight next to her, the suit pulling a little tight across his hips when he did.
“Okay, quick version,” the woman said, already reaching under the counter. “You’re like this until Monday morning. Around eight, give or take. After that you go back. Until then, these.” She slid two small envelopes across the counter. “New IDs and cards for the weekend. Your old stuff won’t scan while you’re changed, so use these if you need to buy anything or get into the after hours stuff.”
John picked hers up. The photo on the ID was already her new face. Miles did the same, thumb brushing the edge of his.
“And just so nobody panics later,” the woman added, tone flat, “you can’t get pregnant and you can’t get anyone else pregnant. The gas handles that. It’s part of the package so people can actually enjoy themselves instead of stressing. Beyond that…” She shrugged. “Figure the rest out as you go. Most people do. Have fun, you two.”
She was already looking past them at the next person in line.
John and Miles stood there a second longer than necessary, envelopes in hand. The constant low heat from the matching costumes hadn’t gone anywhere. If anything, standing this close while they processed what the woman had just said made it worse. John could feel the suit pressed tight between her legs. Miles kept adjusting his stance like he was dealing with the same problem.
“So… whole weekend,” Miles said quietly.
“Yeah.” John glanced at him, then away. “Guess we should… I don’t know. Walk around?”
Miles nodded. They stepped away from the booth together, still close, neither of them in any real hurry to put space between them.
