What's Murphy's Move?
A
I sit down in a lotus pose, and find something out very quickly: Meditation is boring. But I suppose the self-control of doing it anyway is kind of the point. And hey, it's just an hour.
A really boring hour.
My talents are all swapped out when I'm done… and I now have at-will Invisibility. Yay. Alice knocks on the door just as I'm standing and stretching to get rid of the stiffness from being in the same position for a long time. “Come in,” I stand, renewing Many Forms.
“Okay, we're all green,” Alice looks slightly flushed, and is breathing hard, “I got a judge to sign off on an entry warrant based on the phone findings, requisitioned three plain cars from the motor pool, and have four uniformed officers ready and waiting.”
I move with her immediately, as she seems to be rushing, “Why the uniformed officers?”
“Everyone will recognize them as official,” she shrugs as we hustle down the halls… it's fun to watch that butt in action… “You go in first, you'll have fifteen minutes to get the girl out, and then we move either way. If you have her, great: The kidnappers will have zero leverage, we can simply move in, arrest everyone, and let the prosecutor sort it out. If you don't, things have gone sideways anyway, and they'll be able to at least cordon everything off until a hostage negotiator arrives.”
“No faith in me?” I chuckle as we enter the motorcade.
“I was in a hurry, so only have three plans,” I can't see her face… that may be a good thing, “You're plan A, but ‘Everybody has plans until they get hit for the first time’ as Mike Tyson phrased the old adage." She breathes as she opens a car door, “This is ours,” and continues as she buckles up, “I expect we'll end up doing at least some amount of ‘winging it’.”
I climb in on the passenger side, buckle in, and concentrate on changing my disguise… I can seemingly make this body look like anything, as long as that look has four huge boobs and is a hypersexualized whore of a woman. In this case, I'm going with painting US flags on each wing, making most of the rest of the body's skin match the color scheme so it looks like I'm in spandex (including boob socks, but eh…). For the neck and face I give the body a white skin tone, blonde hair, and blue eyes. I also change some facial details with the nose position, separation of the eyes, and specific chin shape. Height and hairstyle, too: It should break basically any person recognition algorithm while still looking like I'm showing my face.
“How do I look?” I ask as Alice pauses at a red light, “Also… why don't you….”
She glances at me, “Should do, and the flashing lights would give away the game; there's a lot of sight lines around that warehouse. Right now, we are just a couple of perfectly normal cars driving down the road. I'd like to keep it that way.” She accelerates when the light turns green, “We'll be stopping just outside where we expect they can see to do a quick review and get you going. Please be invisible when we arrive… the fifteen minutes is us going over the plan one last time, setting up our perimeter, and a few other details. Officially, you don't exist. I'll leave my door open a little longer than is necessary.”
“Got it,” I say as I cast, fading from sight, “But skip the door - I can just teleport.”
“Will do,” she confirms as we pull up along the side of the road with the other vehicles. She gets out, as the other officers do… including Adam, I note idly… she checks the time, and starts chatting with the men. Meanwhile, I Warp out of the car and get started….
