Nadia liked Nika. She was a breath of fresh air and said silly things like “Imagine if racoons were pets. Tiny people-hands!”

It was nice for things to be normal — that she could hope for things that were normal.

Like starting a family. With Leon.

Nadia made an omelette for him — who sat at the table reading a novel. An easy smile on his face:

Gentle drizzle hitting the metal roof. Pitter-patter…

Nadia received a message from Nika.

“Had fun last night. Was Oliver angry I didn’t come in?!”

“Yeah. It was a busy day. But don’t worry, Oliver said he is drawing up your pink slip,” Nadia replied.

Three dots. Typing. A pause. Then three dots.

“You can’t be serious :0”

“Just kidding. He didn’t even notice you weren’t there xD.”

“Playing with me eh, Nadia?”

Nadia smiled.

Three dots. Typing. Nothing. Then…

“Girls day? Saturday? I want to go into the city for shopping…” Nika said.

“Okay. Sounds fun,” Nadia said.

The omelette burning smell.

“Eeee…! The omelette.”

“You okay hon?” Leon said.

“Hope you don’t mind a extra crispy omelette… Hehe…” Nadia said.
