SEASIDE SLUMS
Seaside Slums is a crime-ridden labyrinth of wet alleys and leaning insulae, a stark contrast to the orderly, well-patrolled residential district above. This squalid waterfront warren houses the city’s poorest residents, primarily house servants, sailors, and dockworkers, who eke out existence among the tide-rotted wharfs and the ever-present stench of fish and sea salt. The district contains the city’s slave market, where debtors and criminals are auctioned into indentured contracts, alongside notorious brothels like the Salty Pearl, and shady gambling dens where a desperate omega might wager their entire future on a single throw of dice. Guard patrols are infrequent in the area, and safety is measured only by one’s own quickness and the denarii in their purse.
