The stranger slipped out of the yurt and into darkness, Bethtali on his shoulder. Even as he did, though, she heard cries of rage and a scream of grief from across the encampment. The stranger let out an oath. "I suppose they've found the bodies, then. Come, girl! Now Egrun give me strength to make good my prize!" As more cries arose from around the camp, the huge man sprinted toward the horse paddock.
