Valnora Seeks a Happy Medium for the Mortal Realms

A couple of weeks had passed by after the guild returned home from what was once Deirdre, but now is the arisen Dark Elven city of Pythorias. Already, news of this event, combined with the ensuring expansions of Dubrovy, and the new Dark Elven surface empire, had reached the city. Of course, there were many human factions and states that took objection to it, and sought to drive them back, but to some people's surprise, the Dark Elves were an incredibly formidable ****, at least to the humans in question.

Members of the guild were now healing and rejuvenating themselves after this particular adventure. There were the matters of the old Deirdre exiles and refugees, and coming to peaceful terms with both Pythorias & Dubrovny to end hostilities--at least for now. There was also the matter of setting up quarters for the new additions--the Draconian Cleric, Sashya, and the Succubus, Valnora. Of course, there was that extra small matter of allowing the succubus to set up a spot in the lower levels, for her to set up a temporary Demonic Gateway, so that she can communicate with the Demon Lord, Jarlaxle, or any other major demons.

But for anyone planning to stay in Freeport for the long term, they had to be registered with the city officials for tax & census purposes. Doing that may've been easy enough for Sashya, but for Valnora, being a Succubus, that was a whole different matter. Everyone knew that Succubi like her can take up many different forms, and it was rare for any Demon to be on the Mortal Realms. And so, as she headed towards the government keep in her demon form, as suitably dressed as she can be, with Cat in tow, Valnora braced herself for whatever the government needed for her to be registered.

Given her nature and the uneasiness of the married women or fiances inside the city hall, Valnora got first priority to enter the registry office. It was a fairly small office, with shelves of books and scrolls, and support staff that were busy sorting and retrieving them. At the desk, a middle-aged human was seated, gesturing for the duo to have a seat across the table.

"So you're the Succubus, Valnora, am I correct?" The registrar looked to her. "I do not suppose you Demons use the names of your houses or broods for surnames, no?"

"Nay, m'lord." Valnora responded. "Given that we can live for virtually forever, or at least have one lifespan, go into hibernation or banishment for centuries, then come back; we do not carry surnames."

"This will be complicated, fair lady." The registrar looked to her. "Every person that stays or lives in Freeport for long periods of time must have a surname, or at least be affiliated with a family or house."

"Well, it is known that I am the only surviving member left in the Auditore family." Cat looked to the registrar. "Perhaps I can vouch for Valnora to...adapt...the Auditore surname for this purpose? Let's just say that I could either...put her in the registry as an adopted sister, or maybe--"

"A delicious idea, Cat." Valnora looked to the Half-Elf, smoothing out the leather skirt of her noblewoman-styled dress. "Given the nights we've spent together, I can at least be your mistress, if not your outright lover."

"Whichever you two decide on," the registrar asked them, "the governor has personally asked me to record at least three different form into the registry. Your demon form counts as 1, and a human form must be taken into the registry. After that, you can decide on a third form to register."

"As you wish, m'lord, but for your sake, and that of your staff, please refrain from touching my feminine features." Valnora stood up, and let the registrar, and his staff, take all the necessary procedures to record her demon form into the registry. Next, she took the human form of Ursula that she used, which certainly made it easier for them to record. But then she had a difficult time deciding on a third form, and she looked to Cat for help.
