Sue Storm Helps The Mole Man Escape

Monster Island. The tropic heat beat down on them. Sue Storm had watched with pity as she saw Harvey rant and rave. She remembered the professor he had been. The mentor she had needed. To see him now, reduced to a raving villain...

"Oh Harvey," she whispered to herself. "What have you become?"

She remembered their little secret. A sudden burst of heat filled her loins. She didn't think of Reed, not at that moment. Only of that night, of how she had felt. His smooth, confident words. How easily he could have taken advantage of her. Yet he had not.

The Invisible Girl realized she owed him.

So, at a key moment, the Mole Man disappeared.

Johnny was blasting flame everywhere. Ben Grimm was clobbering monsters. Reed was shouting orders.

Sue Storm touched the invisible villain and dragged him away from where they were sealing his pets away.

"Harvey," she whispered quietly. "I'm giving you a chance to escape. You don't have to be this way."

Her lips brushed his cheek. Or they meant to. Except he turned his head at the last moment, and their lips touched.

No one could see the Invisible Girl blush. Yet as she ran back toward Reed and the others, she knew she left a part of her heart behind with the Mole Man.

Sue's fingers brushed her lips. It had only been a kiss, yes. That time. Yet it hadn't ended there. What had begun at the university had led to an increasingly complex relationship for both of them. As the Invisible Girl had grown into the Invisible Woman, she had often come to reflect on her actions during that first fateful encounter. If she had not hidden Harvey Elder, would the Fantastic Four have captured him? Would he not have returned to menace them again?

She didn't know. All she did know is that she had never told Reed or the others. She didn't think they could understand.

Her hand fell down to her abdomen. She remembered what had happened at their next encounter with the Mole Man.
