Chapter 15 by perv-senpai perv-senpai

What's next?

Being human

The ascent was blinding. We left the gloom of the palace behind, rocketing toward the shimmering ceiling of the world. I held Ariel’s waist, my powerful tail driving us upward, faster and faster, until the water turned from deep indigo to turquoise, and finally to blinding white.

We breached.

The transition was violent and magical. As we broke the surface tension, the magic of the world order inverted. The heavy, pressurized water fell away, replaced by the crushing lightness of the air.

My shark bulk evaporated. The dense muscle mass compressed, the grey sandpaper skin softened and bleached into tan human flesh. My fused legs split apart with a sensation like tearing silk. The gills on my neck sealed shut, forcing my lungs to expand and take a sharp, gasping breath of oxygen.

We crashed onto the white sand of a secluded island cove, tumbling through the surf not as monsters, but as humans.

I lay on my back in the wet sand, staring up at the bright blue sky. The sun felt incredibly hot on my skin, a sensation I hadn't felt for a very long time. I flexed my fingers. No claws. Just human hands. I ran a tongue over my teeth. Canines, yes, but no serrated rows.

Beside me, there was a soft groan.

I sat up. Ariel was lying in the shallow surf, the water lapping at her new form. The transformation had stripped away the seashells and the tail. She was completely, beautifully naked.

Her red hair was no longer floating in a halo; it was heavy, wet, and plastered to her skin, a vibrant crimson against the white sand. But it was the lower half that drew the eye. Where the green scales used to be, there were now long, slender legs. Pale, smooth, and perfect. Her knees were knocked together, her feet digging into the sand, toes curling and uncurling in fascination.

She pushed herself up on trembling arms. She looked down at herself, her eyes wide with wonder.

"They split..." she whispered, her voice sounding different in the air: lighter, clearer. "My tail... it split in two."

She reached down and touched her knee. Then her shin. Then her ankle. She wiggled her toes, laughing a breathless, incredulous sound.

"Wiggle toes!" she chirped. "I have toes!"

"You have legs, Ariel," I said, my voice deep and human.

She snapped her head up to look at me. Her jaw dropped. She had only ever seen me as the grey, terrifying shark-man. Now, she was looking at Ray the Human.

She stared at my face. My silver hair was matted with salt water. My eyes were no longer black voids; they were human eyes, sharp and intelligent. My chest was broad and scarred, but it was skin, not hide.

"You..." she breathed, crawling through the sand toward me. She moved awkwardly, not used to the mechanics of knees. "You're... small. Well, smaller."

She reached out and touched my cheek. Her hand was warm. "No scales," she murmured. "Soft. Like... like a dolphin's belly."

"Human skin," I corrected, grabbing her hand and kissing the palm. "It burns in the sun. It bleeds easily. But it feels everything."

I stood up. Gravity felt heavy after the buoyancy of the ocean, but I welcomed it. I towered over her, even in human form. I reached down and offered her a hand.

"Stand up, Princess. Let's see if the statue was worth it."

Ariel took my hand. She tried to pull herself up. Her legs wobbled violently like a newborn fawn's. She stumbled forward, crashing into my chest.

I caught her. My arms wrapped around her naked waist—skin on skin. The friction was electric. There was no water to buffer the heat between us.

"Got you," I whispered.

She clung to me, burying her face in my neck. "The air..." she gasped. "It's so thin. And the sun... it’s hot. But you..."

She pulled back to look at me, pressing her hips against mine. "You're warm. Hotter than the water."

She looked down between us. The shark anatomy was gone. The slit, the claspers, the white underbelly, all replaced by human anatomy. I was naked too, the transformation leaving nothing behind. She saw my erection. It was human, veined, and unmistakably ready, pressing against her stomach.

"It changed too," she noted, her curiosity overcoming her shyness. She reached down, her fingers grazing the head. "It's not bone anymore. It’s... flesh."

"It fits differently now," I told her, lifting her chin so she looked me in the eyes. "No more vents. No more claspers. The lock is different up here."

I ran my hands down her back. It was smooth, unbroken by fins. I cupped her ass cheeks—firm, round, and separate. I slid my hand between her legs. Instead of a hidden cloaca beneath scales, I found the soft, wet heat of a human woman.

Ariel gasped, her knees buckling, her weight falling entirely on me. "That..." she whimpered. "That feels... so much more open."

"We have time," I said, looking around the deserted, sun-drenched cove. "We have a few days before you have to return to the sea. A few days to learn how gravity works."

I walked her, guiding her stumbling steps, toward a patch of dry, warm sand near the treeline, away from the tide.

I laid her down. She sprawled out, her red hair fanning like a flame on the white beach. She lifted one leg, staring at the thigh, flexing the muscle, marveling at the mechanics of her own body.

She looked up at me, her blue eyes sparkling with a mix of the old curiosity and a new, human hunger.

"Teach me," she whispered, spreading her new legs wide, exposing her pink, human vulnerability to the sun and to me. "Teach me how humans walk. And teach me how they love."

I knelt between her thighs. The shark was gone, but the predator remained.

"Lesson one," I said, running my hand up the inside of her thigh. "Friction."
