A Lowly Goblin

As my thoughts coalesce after the bright light and the confusing conversation with the two voices, I start to notice my form shrinking down, down, down. While I was never nominated for Sexiest Man of the Year, as I start feeling the oiliness of my new body, I definitely wouldn’t be winning any looking contests.

Although I couldn’t “see”, I could definitely feel the greenness leeching into my form, ears growing and claws forming. I was…a goblinoid. And from my small stature, it seems I was a runty goblin. Well, who better to take down Heroes than the lowliest of monsters? And if I was going to be the lowest of the low, then best skulk around and surprise my enemies.

Even as I shrank, I felt myself gaining a few inches below the belt, which on my smaller form would no doubt be comical…or horrifying. No doubt the work of the more sensible voice as I didn’t detect any of the truly **** measures the ‘spicy’ one was talking about, though I could tell that once they went ‘green’ they’d never go back.

The other thing was the monster powers offered. Well, of them, there was one that would be useful in the short term. Mastery over the elements would be nice, but 1000% of 1 damage is only 10. With that in mind, words like ‘action economy’ floated through my head.

Now there was only one standard class for a chosen of the gods, right? If I was going to be weak, I’d need to be able to recover or I’d surely fail.

The last thing was the ideas of these ‘cheats’ they’d offered. Well, of them, there was one that would be useful in the short term. More experience would be good, but the offer of a third class? C’mon now.

As the world around me faded into view, I felt a sense of optimism and anticipation. This was my second chance. Now let's show this world what a lowly goblin can do.
