A knock at the door

I was awoken by a knock on my bedroom door. "Just a minute!" I said hoping there were no other fertility goddesses in my room. I quickly put on pajama pants, "Come in!" I said and Veronica entered. She paused for a second, her nose sniffing the air, a sense of calm moving down her body.

"Sure do you want to take a seat?" I patted the foot of the bed while I was sitting with my legs folded under me at the top. Veronica sat down.

"Dustin, I, well it is a little difficult to talk about. I believe in transparency. I like to avoid tension by keeping everything out in the open, so I am just going to come out and say it, and let the chips fall where they may." "Oh, okay Veronica, why um why did you feel like telling me?" I say stumbling on my words.

"Well like I said, I wanted to be transparent, for you to know I feel your eyes on me, and while I appreciate it, especially from a handsome man like you, I didn't want it to ruin our relationship."

"Oh, well, I mean, I guess I thought that well if you felt the same way I did, that maybe there could be something here for us to nurture."

"Wait, you mean it just isn't lust when you look at me?"

"You've been very welcoming to me, and you're a great cook and you're beautiful, I guess I was just, hoping for the best."

"Dustin, look, I guess I'm not saying, no, I'm just saying, we need to know each other more, so maybe we should start over as friends?"

"Well if you're saying there's still a chance, then yeah, we can restart as friends" I say smiling.

"Ok, then I'm going to head downstairs, thanks for the talk Dusty" Veronica said as she left. I grabbed some clothes and a towel and went to shower. I got ready for the day and headed downstairs. Veronica and Joy were talking about Veronica's dress when there was a knock on the front door.
