A Neighborly Visit

I went to the front door and was met with a lanky bespectacled guy around my age. He was really thin and had his hair in a brown upward swoop.

"Hey, is Joy around?" He asked nervously. He was dressed in a white v-neck shirt with blue palm trees on it. He had glasses and short cut brown hair. He voice had a bit of a tremble in it. "Oh you're the new guy who just moved in aren't you? He asked

"Yeah I'm Dustin" I said trying to figure out why he was here.

"My mom and I moved into the neighborhood a few months ago. My name is Dylan." He said almost sensing my question.

"Oh, and you and Joy are... friends?" I asked realizing Joy had never mentioned Dylan in any of the time I'd been here.

"Look, it's complicated" Dylan said he eyes down on the ground.

"I'm listening" I said closing the door to the house, not wanting this guy to cross the threshold.

"It's, it's my mom, she wants me to go around town meeting and talking to girls." He mumbled out, clearly embarrassed. "I told her I already asked out both Veronica and Joy and they both turned me away, but she wants me to be persistent."

"Wait you asked Veronica too? And your mother put you up to this?"

"Yeah, but listen, I well I'm not even interested in either of them. They're, well they're not my type." He said, blushing a little.

"And what's your type Dylan?" I asked worried he would start coming on to me next, hoping that Juno's powers didn't work that way.

"Well, I like, I like older women, like old. Like if Veronica had a mom I bet I'd be interested in her" He said, his eyes never leaving the ground.

I thought for a second, and then remembered the older nurse at the clinic, "Hey, Dylan, I may have just the lady for you!" I said "Why don't we meet up at the clinic down the road this afternoon and I can introduce you?" I said.

"Really? You'd do that for me?" He asked meekly.

"Of course man, hey we can't help what turns us on, and if I can help someone find true love this summer, I'm all about it!" I said. We exchanged numbers. "Ok let's plan for 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon."

"Great, thanks Dustin!" Dylan said as he left the property. I turned and went back into the house.
