EPISODE 7: Will Ladislaw goes to work for Dorothea’s uncle as a newspaper editor and is now living at his house. Casaubon is displeased believing it to be his wife’s doing. Dorothea and Will have many more meetings in which Rome is never discussed but the relationship between each of them and Casaubon is the usual subject. Once she hears Will’s full story she pleads with her husband to leave money to Will, but that only serves to reinforce Casaubon’s conspiracy theory and he bans the younger man from his house, changing his will to ensure Dorothea is disinherited if she marries Will.

Following expectations dashed by the will, the Vincy father informs his children that he cannot afford to bail them out if they get financial trouble, so Fred is sent back to college but Rosamond is resolute about her approaching marriage. Lydgate purchases a town house and watches as the expenses pile up.

While out shopping Rosamond meets up with Will and being the live for the moment people they are immediately hit it off. Rosamond takes Will to Lydgate’s new property showing off her new furniture finishing off at one of the guest bedrooms, where momentary lust overcomes them.

Will offers to find him at the hospital, but Dorothea, not wanting to talk to Will right now, says she will go. When Mrs Casaubon leaves Rosamond teases “You love her. No, you worship her”.

COMMENT: And now the gold - ‘Finally Harry and Hermione’. It was not an accident that this was the longest sex scene in the entire production. It made every sense for the 2 characters to be lovers. In the book the town spends a long time gossiping about them. Thankfully James did not get too excited during this scene and was able to cement a reputation as a sensitive screen lover.
